This install applies to "Die Kathedrale" © 1991 Software 2000.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad to be in the path.
This program can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed game requires 1.0 MB ChipMem.
(+2.3 MB for preload and Kickstart ROM)
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD
- DMA waits in replayer fixed (x2)
- Byte write to volume register fixed
- Timing in intro fixed
- Vertical blank interrupt in intro replaced with system-friendly version
- Save disk requests disabled
- Intros can be skipped with CUSTOM1 (see below)
- Manual included
- NewIcon (created by me)
- Source code included as usual
- Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10')
Here's the patch for the second adventure released by Weltenschmiede.
The intro had several problems, timing was completely wrong on
fast machines so it was impossible to read the texts. It also used
SMC to install the vertical blank interrupt. I have completely replaced
the vertical bank interrupt code with a system-friendly version (which
I took from one of my 4k intros) to avoid problems because the intro
is system-friendly except for vertical blank. Now it is 100%
system-friendly! Patching the interrupt made it easy to fix the
timing too as I now just use the interrupt for that. The intro code
looks like it was someones first exercise in assembly coding, i.e.
it isn't very good! For example, all the texts have been stored as
bitmaps which are then displayed, writing a small text routine would
have been a much better approach! There also was no way to skip the
intro, I have fixed this of course. You can skip both intros with
the CUSTOM1 tooltype, available options are:
CUSTOM1=1: this will skip the Software 2000 intro (nice music!)
CUSTOM1=2: this will skip the game intro
CUSTOM1=3: this will skip both intros
I have included the manual but to complete the game you need the
other documents that were included with the game too, you can find
these at HOL (http:hol.abime.net/2550/manual).
Enjoy this great (but very hard) adventure from HD.
