NOTES:
Started this install a long time ago, and promptly lost the lot in a
hard drive crash!
In a way, thats a bit of a bonus, because KickDOS has been replaced by
KickEMU and this install now uses files instead of diskimages that it
did when I first did the install, so its better all round.
Version 1.0 NTSC will be released as and when the KickEMU fault can be fixed.
The copy protection for this version is the rather lame-tastic HLS Ben
Herndon system of Encryption, track check and decryption (2 passes no less!).
This was removed quickly, but there it appears the Maxis method of detecting
NTSC is rather crude, and it only has problems within the WHDLoad environment
and nowhere else, so this leads me to believe its a KickEMU fault.
I can't quite understand why Maxis would choose to use this particularly
stupid protection method for their game. They put a readme text on the disk
telling you how to install to hard drive, but this copy protection means that
you still need the original disk to be able to continue past the protection
check!! I guess thats why they only used it the once, no other versions
of Sim City carry this useless 'protection'.
The CDTV version of this game expects 1Meg of Chip ram, so it will not work
on any Amigas with less. This game was never intended to be run on anything
other than a CDTV, so this is to be expected.
Special Regards go out to: Wepl for constantly striving to improve WHDLoad,
Stingray, Magic Mushroom, WayneK, Jope, DLFRSilver, Musashi, KillerGorilla,
and most people from EAB, and everyone from my 'illustrious' past who
are never forgotten! :)
Regards, Galahad
