This install applies to "Hallucinations and Dreams Preview" 1992 Katharsis.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad and DIC to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed demo requires 0.5 MB ChipMem and 0.5 MB OtherMem
(+0.7 MB OtherMem for preload).
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD
- ColdCapture patching disabled
- ButtonWait support for title picture
- Interrupts fixed
- Hidden part can be enabled with CUSTOM1 (use at own risk!)
- Reset at end of demo patched to quit to DOS
- Decruncher (MegaCruncher 1.0) relocated to fast memory
- NewIcon (created by me)
- Source code included as usual
- Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10')
Here's the patch for the Hallucinations and Dreams preview which
is completely different to the final version which was released
about a year later as a Union demo.
Quite nice code, not much had to be fixed.
All data on disk was protected and decrypted during loading with
a simple "eor.l #$09031974,(ax)+" instruction, I suppose I now
know when Tom (coder of the demo) was born. :) Bootblock code
was encrypted too (eor.l #"TOM ",(ax)+) but that wasn't much of
a problem either.
The demo has a simple hidden part which can be enabled with CUSTOM1.
You can also try to find out how to activate it yourself, it's not
hard. :)
Due to the fast loading from HD the title picture was visible for
a short time only hence I have added ButtonWait support for it,
if enabled the picture will be displayed until either mouse button
has been pressed.
Not much more to say, enjoy the demo from HD.
