This install applies to "Demo Disk" © 1989 Subway.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad and RawDIC to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed demo requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+0.9 MB for preload).
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD (real files!)
- Self-modifying code fixed
- 24 bit problems fixed (copperlist in part 4)
- Decruncher (simple RLE) relocated to fast memory
- Timing fixed
- DMA wait in replayer fixed (x5)
- Byte write to volume register in replayer fixed (x5)
- Bplcon0 color bit fixes (x18)
- NewIcon (created by me)
- Source code included as usual
- Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10')
This was fun to do, I coded the RawDIC imager yesterday and today I patched
all parts. Except for a 24 bit problem in part 4 nothing major had to be
fixed. The copperlist in part 4 used the high bytes which only worked
on 68000, I suppose it was a bug with some MACRO the coder used as I doubt
it was done intentionally. Some lines of code easily fixed that problem
anyway. There also was some SMC used in 2 of the parts to change the
scroller speed, I have fixed this in the fastest way possible but SMC
was used for convience (read: laziness of the coder) and not because of
any speed problems. Other than that the code is fine and the demo parts
are quite enjoyable, I especially like the second part. Others would have
called this "mega demo", Subway just named it "Demo Disk". Sounds somewhat
less spectacular but it doesn't mean that the demo is less interesting
than a "normal" mega demo. It sure reminds me of days long gone, great
time it was! :)
Enjoy the demo from HD.
