A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR:
My original comment that this game "was hell personified to fix" still stands.
But I've learned a lot more in the intervening 22 years since I first patched
this game, so I'm more forgiving. :-)
The Rob Northen Copylocks differ depending on the release. The version I
originally patched was a v1, while a subsequent release (SPS #2120) uses
a v2 copylock. In both cases game code is decrypted inside the copylock, so
not just a case of wiring a key!
The game itself has issues. It randomly froze due to misuse of CIA timers.
The sound effect engine is not great (one channel used for most sfx, which
basically ends up dominated by an explosion). Plus other random bits that
needed fixing.
The actual game isn't all that bad, a light shoot-'em-up which doesn't
really reward a great deal, and is certainly no Silkworm/SWIV, but a
short diversion nonetheless.
Greetings to Codetapper, Galahad, Wepl and the rest of the WHDLoad team!
Thanks to Codetapper and Galahad in particular for our discussions back in
2002 about the possible problems behind the freezing.
