Short: HD-Installer for Top Secret V1.0
Author: Codetapper/Action (codetapper@hotmail.com), ICQ: 26051687
Uploader: Codetapper/Action (codetapper@hotmail.com)
Version: 1.0
Type: game/patch

This patch applies to "Top Secret" (c) 1992 The Hidden - 1 disk.
Thanks to Chris Vella for sending the original. This game was featured
on the coverdisk of Amiga Power Issue 17 (September 1992).

REQUIREMENTS:
- Slave requires WHDLoad V10+.
- Disk game requires 512k chip mem (+0.8Mb other memory for preload option)

FEATURES:
- Full load from HD
- Loads and save high scores (unless you cheat!)
- Blitter waits inserted (x10)
- Empty DBF loops fixed (x2)
- Intro/death/end sequence waits for the button to be pressed and released
- Trainer added: - Set CUSTOM1=1 or Help ingame to toggle invincibility
                 - F9 to skip levels
- All files can be compressed to save space (FImp, Propack etc)
- RomIcon, NewIcon and OS3.5+ Colour Icon (created by me!)
- Quit option (default key is 'F10')

CHEAT MODE:
- Taken from Sweet Cheater by Keith Krellwitz!
- On the high score screen, enter "MOOG" for your name. This will give
you invincibility. The original game used 'F10' to skip levels but this
has been changed to 'F9' to keep with the WHDLoad standard of 'F10' to
  quit!

Please note: There are tonnes of stupid beam delays in this game which
means it is PAL ONLY! If you run it under NTSC, it will simply display
a black screen and stay there forever. Add the PAL tooltype if you have
an NTSC machine!

After reading the write-up by Amiga Power which claimed this game as "the
best PD game ever" I decided to have a look at it. If I was a reviewer
then this game would be lucky to scrape 50% due to:

- Incredibly hard difficulty level (did anyone playtest this game?)
- No ability to jump over enemies (you naturally push up to jump and find
  that nothing happens)
- Getting stuck on a ladder and forced to fully climb it to get the disk
which is right beside where you are
- Speed of climbing ladders is far too slow, especially when the fast robot
  enemy appears
- Most of the power-ups seem to harm rather than help you. For example, you
get stuck for about 5 seconds by touching the magnet, the skull
instantly kills you, joystick direction reversal (surely one of the most
lame and annoying things to put in a game)
- Power-ups appear randomly right in front of you so at times you will be
walking along and suddenly a skull appears just where you are walking so
  you die
- Being killed by an enemy which you clearly killed before he touched you
- No way to tell you are harming the level guardians other than by checking
  that your score is increasing
- Some levels cannot be completed in the normal manner if you accidentally
shoot a vital tile. If this happens, you have to muck around hoping that
  a "complete level" icon appears
- The high score name entry will end as soon as you press the fire button
which is the instinctive thing to do rather than moving the joystick to
  the right

This is a classic case of a magazine hyping their own coverdisks (which
Amiga Power also did with the terminally naff game "Kid Gloves"). I
believe that if a rival magazine had mounted the game on their own
coverdisk, an Amiga Power review would have slagged the game off in the
PD section in their usual style!

You should be able to download this game from the net by checking the main
Amiga coverdisk websites or doing a search!

If you use either of the cheats then your scores will not save. If you
compress all the files, you only need about 320k of memory to preload the
entire game.

Greetings to Wepl for WHDLoad, all Action members, my testing crew and the
WHDLoad team!
