Game crashes in attract mode just as the title splash "Lotus III The Ultimate Challenge" finishes fading to black. If you're quick with the fire button you can skip to the Main Menu and start the game, but the game crashes just as the driving is about to begin (can hear engine noise note hanging). Quit key still works.
All 3 lotus games do the same in fact, and lock up just before the driving part starts.
There are others reporting a similar issue but have not given a complete description.
Have a Pistorm w/emu68 V1.0 fitted to an A500+, emulating a 68040+FPU.
Feel free to delete this if it is not within the remit of the WHDLoad project to fix issues that may be due to inaccurate CPU emulation on accelerator boards.

I know this is a very old issue, but I just discovered it myself and wondered if there was a chance of getting it resolved? It only seems to happen on a real Amiga, not WinUAE, I have an Amiga A1200 with Blizzard 1230, 64mb Fast RAM. I am using the Kickstart ROMs from Amiga Forever 2012. I have WHDLoad 17.1

I have done some testing and have verified that it is a WHDLoad issue, as it does not happen when running from the floppy, either installing to hard drive or booting from the disk 1.

Thanks for your hint what solved the slowdown problem (I have to remember the possibility to enable caches in the future). Here on 040 DCache and/or Cache did the trick.

BTW. Could there general problems if both (DCache/Cache) are set? I guess it doesn`t make sense but if accidental used.

DCACHE indeed solves the slowdowns. But then it causes some screen garbage on the menus. Maybe it's worth investigating.

At the risk of opening up old wounds, I was trying to play this tonight on and experienced slowdowns at the same places (in the game), and came here to see if it was a known issue.

The difference for me is that I'm not using an 040+ or anything; I'm on a PAL Amiga 500 with an ACA500+ (68000 CPU running at 42MHz).

I tried CACHE, DCACHE and NOCACHE via Tooltypes, to no effect, though I didn't really expect it to work. I installed the game to hard disk using the ADFs and it works perfectly. Running via WHDLoad, though, it crawls when the ball is on the green.

Obviously I can play the game now it's installed, but it would be nice to have the WHDLoad version sorted (I like being able to start it in NTSC mode automatically, for example).

So I get this crash in world 1 lvl B and C. Not tried much in later levels, but had not had any crashes in later levels thus far. World 1 lvl A seems fine.
I get this crash in the above mentioned levels: "Exception "illegal Instruction" ($10) at $1CBFE (DbgAdr $127E) occured."
It doesn't happen every time, but more often than not. It will also happen in random parts of these two levels. Tried all kinds of tooltypes with no effect.
But thus far I have not seen a crash when trying to run the game in NTSC. My Terrible Fire 536 and system seems stable otherwise. The few games I had crashes in I could fix with various tooltypes, except Turrican in PAL mode. I've tried the latest slave and also older slaves of the game. And also truied older versions of whdload. I also had a crash in the same levels when trying the floppy version of the game. So I wonder if this could be the INT2 bug that was reported with the game Walker and TF536. I do not get this crash in any other of my whdload setups. This is my only setup that uses a Terrible Fire accelerator.
Played world 1 level B and C over and over again. Probably well over 100 times. Game crashes probably 90 out of 100 times on these two levels.

The demo doesn't start on TF1260
I have a TF1260 card and this demo doesn't want to start via WHDLoad. I've tried the magic tooltypes (NOMMU, NOAUTOVEC, NOVBRMOVE, NOCACHE, NOPRELOAD, CACHE, CHIPCACHE) without success. I've a standard PAL WB with 32 colors, so 1,8M+ chipRAM is free. I remember, that without WHDLoad it was only possible to start the demo with the 'no startup-sequence' method.

The error is the same:
Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" ($402C) at $F73E5CE (Task 'exec.library', ExpMem $15CE) occured.
At least two people with the same TF 1260 config reported the same at the Commodore Amiga facebook group.

Sorry for not adding .whdl_register on the original report: This slave wasn't available on Mantis when I tried to report, so the WHDLoad site offered me a webform to report. Apparently, it was added to Mantis just after my report.
But now for good news: this newer slave worked first try!

Great! No worries about the register file. Problem was apparently race condition with module player startup that only showed on KS3.2 + 060 (or well, maybe others). I was able to reproduce under emulation, but I didn't catch it because my 060 has KS3.1, and other testers with 3.2 had other setups.

I'll release an update once there's been a bit of time for other issues to show.

0006299:0013444 is for slave 1.x on an A1200 ACA 030. whdl_register reports stack overflow. Slave 1.x ironically is the only slave that runs on a DKB 030.
Slave 0.2 speed 5 is correct for ACA 030.

I can also reproduce this on my Amiga 1200 with only a 8MB Fast RAM expansion, so it's not 060 limited (though possible worse on there since my 4000 spec is the same as the original reported, and it happens on my 4000 too).

Using CUSTOM1=1 to skip intro and running the game on OCS causes garbled graphics in-game
If the latest WHDLoad install for Shadow of the Beast (2022-10-23) is run on an OCS/ECS machine (Amiga 600 with HDD, for example), and CUSTOM1=1 is used to skip intro, all background graphics are garbled in-game.

It doesn't seem to happen on AGA systems.
-Install Beast WHDLoad on an OCS/ECS machine (Rom 3.1 tested).
-Launch with CUSTOM1=1
-Begin game.

Hi there,
a couple years ago I reported issue 4290, where the game would freeze with a black screen after "Game Over" before showing the high scores.
That happened in NTSC but not PAL mode. Even though NTSC sems the "correct" setting for this game as it fills the whole screen and background. PAL looks squished and has an empty background-color border in the surplus PAL rasterlines below the action.
I am writing again today because after becoming able to decipher assembly in the meantime, I am pretty sure I found the problem. In the slave source, you're patching in the WaitRaster loop which seems to want to wait for a single frame... I think? In any case, it assumes 303 rasterlines on the screen which is fine for PAL but results in endless loop for NTSC as it only has like 262 raster lines.
I am happy to test my theory once I have understood how to build the slave code but I thought it might be an easy thing for you to fix. Don't know if that's possible but my thought would be to check for PAL/NTSC at the start of WaitRaster and then set either 303 or like 255 raster lines as the waiting period.
Thanks for making this install in the first place, I low-key love this game even though it's a bit janky compared to SEGA consoles. :)

Provide disk image size in structures or when calling dsk_DiskCode
I would like to get the size of the disk image when dsk_DiskCode is called, either in a register, by reading a field from a structure or calling a rawdic function.

Use case: I have updated the Turbo Outrun imager to support 2 different versions (1 disk US version, 2 disk SPS 1064 version). As I had to use a DOS track to get the checksum for determining the game version but didn't want to add it to the saved disk image, I used the FL_NOFILES flag and save the disk image data in my own dsk_DiskCode custom routine. I found no way to retrieve the size of the disk image, so I had to calculate it manually by using the tracklist as input. Worked well, but is rather inconvenient.

Is there any possibility to get the size of the resulting disk image when dsk_DiskCode is called? I didn't find anything but I may have missed something.

When the 2 button support is enabled in version 2.2 slave, the second button works but not when pressed in conjunction with a direction (i.e. you cannot jump while moving, but you can when standing still). Using a Mega Drive joypad.

By the way, ich used the German (a1k.org) Version (Flug der Amazon Queen).
In the English version of the Game it is the same.

WHDLoad install for Summer Olympix
Hi:)

Just wanted to ask if a install for Summer Olympix would be possible.

Sure, the Game is "just" one of those "Winter/Summer Games" types,
but it has a funny attitude and is quiet charming ;)

Despite it only came out for the CD32, its actually an 1MB OCS game
and the forced CD32 Controller requirement is just stupid.

Access did a crack/fix back in the day, so a CD32 is no longer needed.

A WHDLoad slave would be very appreciated because the game has problems.

Archery has a slight graphical glitch, when the target is missed.

PS: there is one thing that got broken in this fix.

The Save & Load feature doesnt work anymore, but thats it.
Ok ok, and the game is now a bit too fast for WinuAE users. ( i play on FPGA )

Hi Sting.
The Endsequence in Second Samurai doesnt trigger.

I did only test the OCS version because i like it way more then the "AGA" version.

Have a video attached so you can see for yourself.
Just beat the Endboss and nothing will happen XD

I tried it a view times with different Tooltypes and setups;
(a few WinUAE setups and FPGA)

alyways the Same result.

Game wants to speed up when in "Attract Mode"
This is just a tiny thing, but when Hybris is in the "Attract Mode" ;
meaning, you dont press any button, let the music play
and let the game "introduce itself".

When you wait for about 1 minute it shows you all the Enemy Types.

This is where the game wants to scoll faster,
everytime one enemy is introuced to the player.
(Becomes Fast;then Slow. Fast; then slow ...)

Tooltypes wont change this. (at least, i could not find any that do)

Its a little thing, really.
I just wanted to report it at least.

The latest version of STOB III works perfect on my A1200 - Vampire V2, but same files won't work properly on my A4000 with CS MK2-60/50.
No ingame key is working, no quitkey is working. Josytick is working fine.
At least with this version, music is played at normal speed. With previous 1.7 music was a bit slower than normal even if the game appeared to work at normal speed but also with no working keys.
Working keys are mandatory to advance in the game and use inventory.

I found out when I set the CPU speed to 14 Mhz and the Blitter to Immediate problem 1 is solevd. Problem 3 can be solved with checking the fast copper checkbox.
With problem 2 I'm not sure if this was also as slow in the Amiga original I owned 30 years ago :).
My findings could be used for the WHDLoad XML-file.

Hi, the second button does not work unless there is a pull up resistor from PIN 9 to 7 in the joystick/pad. This issue also exists when running from floppy on A1200. On an A500 it's fine, apparently this is to do with the different kickstart versions defaulting the POT lines to Output on the A500 but Input on the A1200, or something, so really the fault is the coders of Apidya, but this is something WHDload can fix for us A1200 users!
Turrican 2 also had this problem but was fixed some time ago.

If you use UAE with these options, the problem is solved:
2MB Chip, 8 MB Fast and 68030 with "optimize for host speed"

But only if you use preload.
Without preloading the game crashes.

Can you please add support for 2nd fire for jump on normal joysticks?

CD32 support mode includes buttons to shortcuts but nothing for jump.
To normally jump you need to hit Fire + UP + direction (Left/Right)
This is rather difficult for some users.
Using the WHDload source code, I added the following to apply a patch myself using copy of the original code and adding the 3 last operations.
But it would probably be better to add and combine this to your main source.

Is someone interested in finishing the work fixing the few bugs in the WHDLoad installer and the game?

Currently confirmed known bugs:
- EOB1,2 AGA crash Exiting the game from Settings menu in-game after you opened at least once the new auto-map (won't crash using WHDLoad quitkey though)
- EOB1 AGA crashes after end-sequence beating the game if you open automap first

Possible extra features to be added:
- WASDQE as alternative movement keys
- RMB on compass to open/close automap (acting like TAB)"
Wondered if someone among currently still active WHD developers could be interested… It's an amazing work by CFou that only need a pair of fixes in the slaves in some circumstances.

Hi,

In both case it must be a bug in allocMem/freemen code.

When i'll free time (perhaps soon), i will try to clean-up src code of EOB1&2 AGA perhaps fix known bugs, optimize automap codes (badly coded because in first it was used just for debug) and release full src code.

BUG 3:
both games have some issue with keyboard shortcuts: C opens Camp menu, then R to Rest etc. and upper left keyboard key "\" (or ' son some keyboards) (0x00) if kept pressed seem to casue input freezes where only mouse movement is allowed and no LMB or RMB do work anymore after you play a bit with keyboard in Camp menu... Possibly keyboard interrupt issue?

I see now beta slave 0.3 won't crash anymore on "Quit the Game" from Options menu after you opened at least once automap (TAB).
It now resets the WHDLoad sandbox restarting from beginning (intro etc.) if you already opened the map (TAB), or will cleanly quit to WB if you didn't open the map before.

Details about previously reported bugs

BUG3 (7132): it seems to happen with EOB I AGA only, when pressing numpad numbers (e.g. 8=up...).

EOB I AGA gfx corruption (7131): confirmed it happens only after you open the automap at least once. Immediately after Loading game there is no corruption.

I also just noticed is still possible to switch front screen with AmigaOS combination LAMIGA+N or M. It should be removed (confusing!).

"Extra features" idea would still be a great addition... ;)
a) modern WASDQE as alternative movement keys (CUSTOMx ttype?). NOTE: the remap, in case, should be disabled when opening Camp menu or some keys will act as numpad up/down instead of shortcuts for submenus (R=Restore party, S=Memorize spells, etc.).
b) RMB on compass to open/close automap (just like TAB key)

Swap snake hissing when player is hit
Sorry, me again. =)

AFAIK the Amiga version is the only one where the wrong snake "shouts out" when the player is hit (so left is for CPU and right for player).
Would be a lovely touch if WHD could fix this by swapping them. :D

Comparing the Amiga and Atari ST versions the meaning and purpose of the snake sounds is different to each platform. The Amiga snake is chortling Ha Ha Ha on the opponents death; while the Atari ST snake is giving a blood-curdling grimace of defeat of it's own sides death.

Default Quitkey F10 is the problem. F10 is used in the game for taking the

F10 is used in the game for taking the magic potion (smart bomb).
When I use F10 in the game I fall out of it.
I can't overwrite the Quitkey, I tried it in many ways: in hostprefs.conf, in the autoboot-file and also in the boot-data.zip file (S/whdload.prefs).
I tried it with QUITKEY=$5D. No way worked.
Now I guess it can only be changed in the slave.file. But I don't know how, I'm only a Retropie-User.
I found a similar case on your site for the game Space Quest: issue 6202

thanks a lot for your hint - but I guess it doesn't help in my situation.

I am using Amiberry in Retropie on my Raspberry, I have no Workbench.
My only help seems to be the slave-change, as it was done with the game Space Quest.

SpaceQuest_v1.2_NTSC_1484 was updated to v1.3
...version 1.3 (04.07.2023) done by StingRay:
 - default quitkey changed to PrtSc as F10 is used in the game (0006202)..

I tried both versions:
v1.2 kicked me out of the game with F10
v1.3 not - F10 was usable for the game

So I hope someone could make a slave with the same change of the default quitkey.

Use a normal joystick for player 1 - (port 1)
Start the game with human controlled North army (blue army) and CPU for controlling the South army (grey army).
Suddenly during the map after a few battles, you cannot click at all to select units and order them, but you can move the pointer normally.
The only way you can click on a unit to order is to use a CD32 Joypad with player 2 (port 0) and hit the "Blue button" on the CD32 pad, even though the game is launched for 1 player and was working fine just before the last battle.
The problem above does not happen when you start a game with human controlled South army (grey) and CPU controlled North army (blue).

What am I supposed to answer here? This patch is in progress as can be seen in the WIP section on the WHDLoad site and will be finished one day. Currently it is not so you have to wait. The game uses a rather complex and not easy to follow file loading routine that incorporates a decruncher, and I need to decipher that as I refuse to release a patch that works with a 512 bytes sector loader patch.

Unfortunately, this will not help. The problem with Willow is that it uses a very slow loader that just loads 512 bytes chunks data and decrunches that data as well, i.e. the decruncher code is incorporated into the loader code. So far I have not been able to locate/extract the decruncher code as the code is quite convoluted and not easy to follow. This prevents me from creating a file based patch that just loads files that have been extracted with RawDIC during installation. I do have a version that uses a disk image and works from HD but it is way too slow and completely unusable if "PRELOAD" is not used.

A few months back I invested a lot of time in analysing the Willow code (again), but didn't come up with any usable result. I will probably get back to it during winter.

That's mentioned in readme under notes.
 - The "Anthead" version works but if you leave the intro running, you'll face a black screen
   where you have to press "fire" in order to continue. I think that this is the "do you want to restart
   from a saved game" screen, only this is black. Seems that it's an original game bug,
   the color palette in the second copperlist gets zeroed instead of being normal.
   I could fix this but this is minor, and fixing would be quite tedious. Maybe if someone donates $$$...
   Solution: skip the intro or press fire when it happens.

The original game contains this bonus level, you can play it after some levels.
It’s a demo of the game and don’t have extra stuff. (I think it doesn’t have a lot of difference.)

You can add it into the same directory than the original game btw, you must do it manually.

Request: a new WHDLoad Tooltype for execution speed regulation on expanded Amigas
With more Amigas running expanded configurations a lot of slaves run too fast or occasionally too slow on the faster Amiga CPU. Requesting a slave re-write isn't enjoyable and is time consuming for the reporter and slave coder.
(Win)UAE has an answer to this which is setting cycle-exact parameters on initialization. Running WHDLoad in (Win)UAE there is a setting that can effect the execution rate of the game -
ExecuteStartup=uae-configuration cpu_speed real cpu_multiplier=2 cycle_exact true cachesize 0
ExecuteCleanup=uae-configuration cycle_exact false cpu_speed max cachesize 8192

An example is the beta 0.2 slave for the Zenerdrive demo by paraj. It has a button selectable 0-9 speed rate accounting for stock to 060 cpu's. I thought it might be possible as a tooltype.

This is not possible with a generic WHDLoad tool type. The speed regulation must be done per slave, as there are countless possibilities for the speed problems. WinUAE does not solve the problem with "cycle exact" either, but only ensures that the chipset runs at the same speed as on a real Amiga. Games/demos can still run much too fast with this setting.

Obviously I agree with Wepl and StingRay here. FWIW it was possible to add a "generic" slowdown to Zener Drive because it has a single, critical function that is too fast on accelerated Amigas (doing a bunch of 3d calculations as fast as possible on 68000). Even then, a single numeric option is not good enough to match A500 speed anyway (each part would have to be calibrated for your specific machine), so for 1.0 I opted for a binary one (on/off) that's hopefully good enough. "Nobody" wants to try 10+ different options only to find none of them match true speed anyway.

Hi :)

After the installation of the Cd32 version the wrong slave is installed.
(so you have to do it manually)

Also, the Keyboard input wont work on the Player screen.

You know, where you enter the playername, Age, Parkname , ect.

Yup, thats right.

The OCS install (all versions that are on WHDLoad)
have a GURU when either using the career mode (after the first race)

or when using the Options menue and then choosing a quick race on germany...
or select a quick race ... not start it.. back out.. select another track..
and try to race that. GURU XD

The AGA version has also black screens , cant remember the circumstances right now... but is all over the place :)

Well, and the CD32 is pretty glitchy and not really usable.

What do you have against Nigel ? ;)

Confirmed, but only on the ECS version. The AGA one runs fine for me, as far as I could test it.
The same "Exception Access Fault" happens on the ECS version if you simply leave it on the intro screen for a while.

The Maniax installer/slave only works with the compilation-release of the game, not with the retail
Sadly, the Maniax-installer/slave only works with the compilation-release of the game (that release was butchered and has not title music). The installer/slave doesn't work with the retail-release. Other diskname. If I assign the retail disk and do the install, the gamme crashes at start.

Traders is a round-based game where a repeating set of phases occur. For example, the phases include building, sending rocket ships, buying, selling, and paying rent.
During the phase of sending rocket ships, there is a small chance the game will be unresponsive and freeze. For testing, I've left the game overnight to see what would happen and the game remains stuck. Because the game could be 20 rounds, the small chance adds up and it seems about half the time the game freezes and cannot be finished.
I recall this same problem occurring with my original A500 and A1200, so I guess the emulator is very accurate!
I was very excited to see the progress on the WHDload for Traders! I completed the process and the game starts normally but still has the intermittent freezing issue during the rocket ship phase.
I've used multiple save-states to capture the issue before it occurs. I've also confirmed that if I load a state that is 2-rounds prior to the crash, the crash can be avoided.
Is this a type of issue that you would be kind enough to investigate? If so, I'll be happy to provide any assistance I can along with any logs, screenshots, or captures. It does not seem to be an easy task so I understand if this is a lost cause.

I/O error while using options SavePath=RAM: NoWriteCache and WHDload v18.7+
WHDLoad versions 18.7 and above give problems on the game Ambermoon while using SavePath=RAM: NoWriteCache options.

Tested with slave versions v2.0 and v2.3 with same results, so I am placing this as a WHDload v18.7 v18.8 v18.9 v19.0.6626 issue.
Save to RAM: while using both options: SavePath=RAM: NoWriteCache

Click left mouse button to skip intro screens, select "START NEW QUEST", click "OK" on the character creation screen and "YES".

This will result in I/O Error from the game itself (included screenshot)
Works with combined options: SavePath=DH1: NoWriteCache
I save to RAM: because I use save states in FS-UAE and this is the way to make them portable/reliable by including any saved game data.

Very long loading times with network connected
Lately I'm using roadshow, enabled at startup.
I've resolved the crash/freeze/recoverable alerts problems using 0004091 advices.
Now it work fine, no crash or freeze, but very long loading times, and for long I mean something like 2 minutes and more, then whdload splash screen comes up and everything works as expected, no crash during the game, no crash on exit.

During loading time, I can browse the net without problems, everything works as expected. The connection stops as soon as the whdload splash screen comes up.
Maybe configuring whdload.prefs, WHDLoad-Cleanup and WHDLoad-Startup as Paul Head did in the 0004091 (except for the wireless part, i'm using an ethernet card).
Amiga 1200 with blizzard 1260+scsi module, ateobus bridgeboard, rtg pixel64 with 2mb ram, nic ateonet. Rom 3.2.1, Wb 3.2.1.

The very same issue occurs on my friend's Amiga 3000 with network card.

To help Wepl, how are you loading the game?
Are you clicking on the game icon from Workbench or are you using a game launcher?
Is the delay with all games?
Whilst the delay is ongoing is there any hard drive activity on that drive (Drive LED or SnoopDOS)?
I'll be honest though it does sound like it's to do with the network checking of slave updates. From memory, I turned off that feature because I had a problem with it loading my web browser after there was little memory left (because of preload) and hence my machine was starved of ram and it was pointless trying to browse the slave update page etc...So it's 'NoNetwork' for me in my WHDLoad.prefs file.

I'm using latest igame, but there's no differences between loading through the frontend or directly from the slave.

The delay is the same with every game (i tried at least 20). In very rare occasions everything works as expected, but only after a cold boot.

No drive activity.

I have 96mb of fast ram, so the memory quantity surely is not the problem here.
While the game is "loading" i can browse the net or exchange files with my pc through FTP, so I think that the network is working properly.

Been a while since I read that old 0004091 issue. I think Wepl was correct, PoolMem with Roadshow issue. I don't go on that Amiga very much now, but I am kind of intrigued myself as to whether that fault still exists or not without the Wait command (with new WHDLoad versions and Roadshow etc). I'll revisit it one of these days and add another post if it's fixed.

Anyway, onto your issue again...have you tried the NoNetwork option which turns off the slave update check?

I remember now the reason I use NoNetwork was because of Chip RAM starvation (consumed by heftier slaves (AGA for example) and then IBrowse was loaded...not a great combo). This may seem a childish question, but you do have plenty of free Chip RAM right? When this '2 min delay' is occurring, do you have plenty of free Chip RAM (graphics memory in Workbench). I say this because your RTG browsing doesn't need Chip RAM, but WHDLoad certainly does.

Also, you say crash/freeze/alert problems in your original report. What was causing this issue and how did you solve it? Do you use either Roadshow or PoolMem like me, or both?

Nonetwork works as it should, no problems at all. Instant loading after whdload info window.

The os uses very little chip ram (there's 2.009.296 graphics mem free after wb loading), and it goes down to 1.993.776 in the "loading" part, then it takes what needed to launch the game.

I do not use poolmem.

It's hard for me and my little knowledge to give the dev some detailed report, so I'm giving up. Of course it's not a problem running whdload without the version check at start, but I'm very curious on the origin of the problem...

The delay is probably caused by WHDLoad waiting for an answer to his network access. Maybe it cannot resolve the address or there is another problem with your network setup.
You can use option TRACE for further diagnostics. WHDLoad will then write a file called .whdl_trace. Look into this to see if there is a network error reported.

I have tried it out and it doesn't appear to create the trace file unless I specify a CoreDumps path.

You're very welcome! Now fire up your Amiga and use this TRACE option.
It's easy, just select a game which has the long delay going (any game I believe), select the game icon once with left mouse click and go into the Icon Information in the Icons Menu in Workbench...what we'll do here is just add a ToolType called TRACE. Once entered, select save and load the game up with a double-click. Wait for the game to appear and then quit it and examine the file created which is stored in your "CoreDumpsPath=...." (editable in S:WHDLoad.prefs). The trace file is called ".whdl_trace". I just tried it out here and it works fine. It's only a few KB in size so easy to upload here. Well, when you have a spare few minutes of course ;-)

In fact, even the first call of the update URL via a browser leads to time-out, but a reload of the URL then works.
At the same time, however, a ping to the host is possible, i.e. name resolution and route are correct.
I do not have an explanation for this behavior...

There is a problem since the website has moved to a new server in Dec 2022.
Since then the webserver does not support http-connections with a remote port of 1024. These connections will timeout. A subsequent connection using port 1025 then works. If you start WHDLoad, as the first application opening a tcp connection, the tcpip-stack usually uses the first non reserved port which is 1024. Then WHDLoad will hang because of this tcp-timeout.
I'm in the process to relocate the website to another datacenter without this problem, as the current webhoster seems to be unable to fix this problem.
In the meantime you may try to start anything, which opens a tcp-connection, prior to start WHDLoad, to avoid the problem.

Seems that the problem is still there.
If I load a game without start anything which opens a tcp-connection, it takes a couple of minutes to load, because of the connection timeout to the server.
If I load a game after opening a web page, it will start promptly.
I've tried to open http://cgi.whdload.net/suc.cgi (92.205.194.92) in IBrowse 2.5.5, and I get the expected conection timeout after a couple of minutes.

CD32 Pad is not working inside game with CD32 support enabled
This game does not respond to the CD32 on my Amiga 4000. Some buttons work occasionally and I suspect this is related to a niche issue with some Amiga 4000 and A1200 models that handle the joypad inputs differently. The game WINDOW WIZARD only works in WinUAE

In FPGA there is a BLOCK right before the game starts, the adf works however.

* Also, a generic Workbench13 slave works BUT only if the Disk
(crack from VISION FACTORY) is in DF0:

* i tried to make a assign.. and also HEX the file vf_window04.img
and change the DF0: to SYS:

* Did not work; so it searches for the trackdisk.device, i guess.

Anyway, would be really nice when this game could get a Update. Please.

I found a Temporary Solution; get this.

After installing the "File" version,
delete all the files that where created from the data folder.

Copy all the files (no need for S and VF_Intro) to the Data Folder,
and it works,

despite the fact that all the names from the VISION FAVTORY CRACK
have different filenames.

Only thing; the keyboard is dead when using WHDload.

but with JOTD´s JST it works just fine. (the highscores arent saved anyway)

the only small "glitch" is that the Text that the People are screaming
is a bit messy, but thats all.

North & South, joystick does not work when South (grey) raids the stations flag
North & South, has a WHDload bug when raiding the stations with the South soldiers (grey) joystick does not work but only keyboard.

Normally it should be able to be controlled fully through joystick, with either Custom1=3 or Custom1=2
Start with Custom1=3 or Custom1=2 to use joystick instead of keyboard.
Use the south soldiers (grey uniform) to attack a station.
Joystick no longer controls the grey player, only keyboard.

Black Screen after Intro - freeze - The JST version works !
The game hangs on a black screen after the Intro.
AGA for sure and and the OCS slave crash at this point.

So i changed to the JST version.

Its always good to have older slaves !! (in this case they wont work either)

JST comes also sometimes to the rescure :) (like in this case)

I just saw the RetroPals stream and they wanted to play this game,
so i was reminded againt to report this eventually.

Besides,i have registered years ago. , Worth every cent !

But it crashed the RetroPals Stream, thats why i was remindesd of that case :)

It affects the MiniMist and some other Systems.

Did test the HDF on Minimig ... Black screen and system freeze after the Intro.
I took exact the same HDF and testet in on WinUAE and there it worked.

Its a Timing issue or something like that.
(one "problem" is that WInuAe was updated over the years and older Slaves that where crated back then can now have timing issues)

anyway.

Right, let's get things straight.

This is MY install and I haven't given anyone permission to take it over.

Secondly, I haven't agreed to send any of the source for this game to anyone.

The guy called Frozen is supposed to be playtesting the Italian support I have provided in the beta slave I sent to his email address some days ago.

So if Frozen could stop messing about (why else would I ask for your email), playtest the game, once I am satisfied it runs correctly, it will be released as well as support for the Spanish version.

Everyone has my email address, everyone knows I'm on EAB, I do NOT expect to find another of my installs done by anyone else without contacting me first!

This isn't aimed at Bertrand that has been good enough to contact me in the past.

The only person stopping this being released is Frozen.

Should I just find someone else to playtest???

Ok I have created 4 disk images and used your beta slave and save. The game start correcly in italian version and seems to be OK. The only problem is on quit key that generate this kind of error: Deadend by ExecLibrary Cause: Corrup memory list detected in Freemem.

I have other information while gaming: I was unable to save the game, that is, it seems that it saves but then trying to load nothing happens, talking to Trilly when you are at the dentist the game freezes but I think this is a bug of the game itself because it appeared even when playing from floppy, another anomaly at the end of the game when you defeat Captain Hook by making him fall from the axis into the water the floppy head begins to move as if it were looking for an inserted media and the black screen remains so the credits skip.

I just wanted to report that nothing can be installed with the latest install.
(well, the install is from 2004 :)

The CD install wont work because the Installer requests the CD as volume
"CDTV_TEST" and the CD is called "Fears".

(tried to trick it with an assign but that did not work)

The German CD Version dont work at all. (copied the files manually and renamed the German executable to Fears_Uk > that also did not work.
(just as a test - dont want to play the censored one)

The Floppy Install Patch wont work. It requests the volume FEARS to be inserted in DF0: but the original are NDOS :)

There are also some slight graphic glitches on different configs (CD version)

A Red HUD for example or a graphic glitch in the main menue. (big white stripe on the right side)

CACHE support sould be also added back into the Floppy Slave.
(it was there before)

Mouse support and maybe some keyboard Stafe keybinding would be neat too.
(CD version)

A save function for the CD version. Blitter fixes for the AGA floppy version.
The optional removal of the Trainer;
that can cause 1111 Emulator ($2C) at $CCCCCCCC
Erorrs after leaving the trainer on certain hardware. (time dependent)

That would be great.

I think this Game from the Denish Demo group BOMB deserves way more love.

Anyway, just wanted to report that.

Crashes always after start with this bug:
Function 'resload_DiskLoad' called with unacceptable arguments A0 = $4FF74E20 PC = $4FFFF894 (Slave $2F4)

It crashes as "Guru" or total WinUAE stop (H3 bug), or with standard WHDLoad bug window, randomly.
Tested with 68000/020/030, all the same, all independent of WinUAE compatibility settings.
I also tried older WHDLoad 14-16 (mention in ReadMe) and no success.

I do not get the resload_DiskLoad error on my machine, but I know why it happens. The patch does not set the extended memory correctly, causing the game to behave incorrectly unless the extended memory starts at a 64k aligned address. It will also lead to trashed memory outside WHDLoad causing a crash once the game is quit.

I have started to rewrite the patch to address these and other problems.

One note yet. When quitkey is used, WinUAE crashes with GURU (Software failure), at least at me, tested with 68000/020/030 all cycle exact. But, when nothing is cycle exact and CPU emulation speed is fastest possible, so quitkey works without any problems. I think, this problem (quitkey) is WinUAE related, not slave.

Hi,
When I try to run the game, after the WHDLoad splash window the game exit to the workbench with a dialog box saying:
     WHDLoad 18.1 @1994-2015 Wepl
     Exception "Address Error" ($F00C)
     PC = $66
     Write to $A3A3A3A1
I tried in WinUAE Configured for A600 with WHDLoad 18.2 installed and the game also crashes.

I have tested this game and on my A600 with furia 68020 11mb it crashes to a guru meditation on launching. On my A1200 with ACA1221 64mb 68020 it does run ok but when you press the quit key it then crashes with a guru meditation also.

    Very timing sensitive :)

It can also crash when you let it sit on the trainer menue for a certain time.
Something is going on here...

(it depends on the setup where the slave was made in, like always;
should be tested on real hardware, not only in winuea) *fingers crossed*

Also, the CACHES dont work (but did in an older version)

The CD32 version do function, but has a graphical glitch on the right side at tzhe main menue and does not support mouse or the save function.

Well, thats all really.

When in Demo Mode the Game Screen SHRINKS with time - only a new start fixes that :)
When in Demo mode (main menue) , the Game Screen Shrinks with time.
Just wait a while, it becomes smaller and smaller.
(that is not happening on the original IPF)

Even after ending the Demo Mode the Screen stays the Size.

Only a New start helps.

Well, DONT use the Demo mode !!! ;)

The HD LED blinks on MIST FPGA; thats a bit creepy ;)
I dont know why, but this is the only game that i have came across that triggers the HD Loading LED on the MIST.

(like it would really load from HD)

But its Preloaded... so why does it do that ?
Weird.

(its a bit creepy tho; but i dont think its actually reading from the HD..)
(my files are save... i hope)

Another thing that i noticed is the background animations stop for a brief moment when a Fighter got hit. You can see that really good in the waterfall stage.

Or in the throne room with the fire.

Is that normal ? :)

Recently it came to my attention that colour blind people might have a hard time to play this game.
So I wondered if it might be possible to add a "trainer", so that colours could be set/changed? =)

Entering cheat mode freezes system
I tried the following key combination and game will freeze system. No way to exit with WHDload exit key. Only a reboot of machine possible.

Yeah, I don’t think this is related to the cheat code.

We are seeing the same issue using WHDLoad on MiSTer, the game just freezes when you try to proceed past the title screen. No exit with QUITKEY possible, must reset the computer.

Current Installer 2.2 NOT WORK. Files and folders installed in incorrect paths and can't pick England Premiere League Teams.
The old installer 2.1 apparently works whitout any issue........

But recently i have tryed to install SWOS 96/97 from IPF files and i can complete the installation whitout any error but when try to run it's hangs and crash immediatelly.. it's say somethings similar:
DOS-ERROS #xxxx files SWOS2.REL can't read


I have tryed to look the installation folders and I noticed that the files are installed/copied in all the wrong paths for example:
- The files SWOS2.REL it's be copied inside 'DATA' Folder it's be need to stay on main folder
- After that also the files 'SWOS2' correct path it's main folder

So also if you look inside the 'DATA' folder you there's present another DATA double folder contain the teams.xxx files. This teams.xxx need correct folder it's not on double subfolder.
Also inside the 'DATA' folder it's be copyed the "Sound" and "Grafs" folder and this folder need to stay on main folder. So the current 2.2 installer it's completely messed up the correct needed path.

Anyway i have tryed to moved myself and manually all files to the correct path... I have successfully made this 2.2 works but at this point there's present another huge BUG.
If you try to select and ENGLAND Team whitout any errors you can see it's only ARSENAL can be selectable... i don't have idea because....

IT's fixable this games ?
Simply try to install this whit current 2.2 installer.

Ah, sorry, didn't think it was an in-game error.
This error happens in NTSC mode only with both 1.0 and 1.1 slaves, and also when played from the floppy. Are you sure you didn't play it in PAL when it was working? The game uses full PAL screen in-game, so it wouldn't be even playable in NTSC mode.

Yes, because I have an NTSC A2000 it is common that I must use the PAL option for many games. Probably it worked in the last version using PAL. Unfortunately, in the newest version the PAL option does not work and displays the same error in the screenshot that I sent.

Okay, I solved the problem. The Option PAL does not work. It must be PAL=1. I do not understand why sometimes this is necessary? But in this case it works :-)

As the Title says, a Second button for the MAP
or Item Screen would be really nice.

Maybe so, that the enduser can choose what he wants on Button 2.

But there is more ...... *sorry*

The BIGGEST FEATURE wish would be to have a SAVE FUNCTION :) *crazy, i know*

But,those chapters are very long and there is NO way to save the progress.
(only a Password after a loooooonooog playtime ... when you survive until then)

This is insanity !!!

This is probably not easy to do ....
but that would make that game finally "playable" on real hardware.

The final "wish" would be : to increase load times on "slower" machines.
(whats up with that code ..? it needs a pretty high chip speed to get decent "loading times". It is also prone for slowdowns in certain spots;
is a Fast Mem/Cache Patch Possible ?

This is "just" a feature wish for a game that could have be so much better
if a few things would be fixed... especially the save problem.

Anyway.
Maybe someday it will be fixed.. or not :)
(i would not blame you, thats probably alot of work)

Well, this is a weird one.

When this is played from a PFS Partition,
(tested with the latest PS3AIO from Aminet)

the Text Boxes and the Text alignment is wrong.
I have never seen that happend in a WHDLoad environment.

Sure, that can happen when a game runs native (rarely),
Ambermoon or Soul Crystal comes to mind.
(i have a small FFS Partition just for Ambermoon ;)

But in WHDLoad the Files are already Preloaded... that confuses me..

Well, just try Genesia on a PFS Partition :) > you will see. ...
then copy that to RAM: or a FFS Partition, and then it works just fine.

Never seen that before..odd.

Ohh, and another thing.

I cannot Save in the recent versions. ONLY in version 1.2 does it work.
(thats why i use that version)

Yes, i am aware we have to choose NO in the Config but still,
the Save dosent work. (1.2 FTW;)

The game is not possible to start - joystick doesn't react
Slave: latest (Retroplay's install)

If game is loaded, in menu you can start:
1Player - push button
2Player - press "2"

In this point, the game absolutely doesn't react for joystick fire button. Impossible to start the game.
I also tested floppy version SPS2188 (which the install is made of), and here everything works perfectly. If fire button is pressed, the game starts.

Tested on 68000/20 - the same.

Fwiw, I can start this game on the latest retroplay whdload in a emulator (puae) in RetroArch android overlay with the default retropad or cd32 pad or joystick in the RetroArch quick menu control menu (which specifies the kind of hardware that is connected to the overlay retropad I think).

But not with analog joystick or keyboard. fwiiw.

I found the problem.
This game doesn't like CD32 pad in joystick port, there must be inserted standard joystick, then it works correctly.
(before, as I also tested floppy version SPS2188 with WinUAE QS configuration, so there is set standard joystick by default, that's why it worked).
Until today, I have never seen such problem, when some game doesn't accept CD32 pad as joystick.
I don't know if this is a problem to solve.
And also where the problem acctually is, if on game side or WinUAE side...

Emerald Mine 2 not able to load on 060 machines
I get "access fault" requester during loading that happens during the 1.3 shell screen. This is happening on an A1200 with a Apollo 1260 accelerator as well as on a A4000T with a CSPPC 060. Same PC location.

Reshoot-R hangs on a black screen on my A1200 if the machine was booted with my 3com PCMCIA Ethernet adapter connected. I have to press F10, remove the network card, and start the game again. To be clear, this is with the networking stack never having been started. Other games that hang the entire machine with the network active, like Virocop AGA, start fine in the same situation Reshoot-R hangs at a black screen. Also note the entire machine isn't hung: F10 still quits.
If I connect the network adapter after the machine has booted, the game starts, even if I've started and subsequently stopped the networking stack during that session. I don't really understand that.
The hang doesn't happen if I run the game outside of WHDLoad. And again, since I've either already stopped the network interface or I never started it in the first place, I'm not sure how I can work around it myself in software. It also still hangs even with no network cable connected to the PCMCIA adapter.
Another note: it might be nice to set the PAL tooltype by default. The game hangs on a black screen without it on NTSC Amigas.
Thanks for any help or ideas!

1# The game crashes back to the Workbench in WinUE when a Mouse button is pressed and hangs on a Black screen with MIST FPGA Minimig.
(ony the 3 finger reset helps) - that does not happend in the Floppy OG version.

2# A 2nd Button function would be really nice for triggering the Bomb. (enter)
Is there no warp feature in this version unlike the Arcade or the Ratsoft release? I think i tried every key on the Keyboard... hmmm

3# This game seems very Timing sensitive. The SoundFX are pretty messed up without using NOCACHE. But even NOCACHE dont fix them completely.
EXPCHIP has to be used in order to do that.

Small Graphical Glitch on the Right bottom corner in the TRAVEL Screen
On the Travel Screen (when you travel to another country)
there is a small graphic glitch on the right bottom corner of the screen.

All WHDload Slave versions have that, the older versions have also a very similiar glitch on the Track Screen (When the Track is loading)

The JST have none of these glitches. Just saying ;)

Glitch at Level 1 - the Boss
There is a glitch at the Level 1´s Boss, where a part of the graphics right to the boss can be seen. The position is not correct. This mostly happends when the menu for Power ups (2nd button) is not used at all in level 1.

I made alos a Screenshot, so you can see what i mean...

Would be neat if you could fix that. (maybe..also the water in level1?) ;)

When you create a character and then use the F10 special key to quit the game, the character's gold is all lost. I've tried Bard's Tale WHDLoad release 1.2 and 1.4 both PAL and NTSC versions, and all have the same issue.
To reproduce the issue: Start the game, create a new character, add the character to the party, click on the character to show their stats, and you'll see that they start with around 150 gold. Then press F10 to quit the game, restart it, re-add the character you created, view their stats, and you'll see that they now have zero gold. The result is the same whether you enter the city or not. If you manually exit the game through the game menu instead of using F10, then their gold is correctly saved.
Bard's Tale 2 does not have this problem. Bard's Tale 3 does not seem to start characters with any gold, so I wasn't able to quickly test if it has this issue.
Note that I can't correctly answer all the questions on this form because I don't know enough about the Amiga. I'm using an FPGA running a port of Minimig (Turbo Chameleon 64).

This is game design, not a bug. I did request a trainer option awhile back to work around this http://mantis.whdload.de/view.php?id=5960

I recommend creating AmigaDOS script to backup your character files after you save/quit to prevent total gold loss if the party dies.

Remove "anti-cheat" mechanic regarding gold
I concluded following behavior by playing from floppy disks and comparing character files in hex editor:

In the guild, when a character is added to party, the game writes to it's character file zeroing all the gold. The character still has the gold in-game and the game keeps track of it, but it's not written back to character files until clicking "Leave game" in the guild.

So the game keeps party gold hostage until they make it back to the guild. Reset during a misadventure results zero gold for whole party.

Trainer option to prevent this would be nice for less hardcore players.

2nd button support for storing those Magic Bottles
A Second Button Function would be VERY helpful and appreciated;
 
because otherwise you have to immediately hit SPACE,
for storing those Magic Bottles.

(This is such a hussle with the Joypad....or even with a joystick*..*i guess)

Those Magic Bottles can be stored. (immediately hit SPACE when you collect them)
and those can used later.

You can switch the stored Magic Bottles with SPACE and use them with ENTER.

Maybe ENTER could trigger when Button 1&2 are pressed at the same time.
(just an idea)

Some of the Features do not work in the "A1200 version".
(this version is faster imho, but otherwise seems the same as the OCS)

After finishing the final boss of the game, the credits scroll and ending never triggers.
In the longplay at the end at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JeF2oYKlj7c

after the boss, the game asks for disc 3 and shows credits and a ending sequence.

This never triggers in the most recent retroplay install, the credits never happen (or the disc change request but that's supposed to never happen in whdload)
I enabled all life, energy and weapons cheats and the secondary jump button, if it matters, then played through with puae in the 1200 configuration until the end with savestates.

Wait, I'm a idiot, i used the normal 1.3 install with the automatic puae system, and it defaults to 1200 on 'not a floppy' which lha archives arent. If the game for 1.3 was supposed to work in amiga 1200 3.1 this is a bug, if it wasn't, it might not be.

On the other hand, whdload is supposed to install to a hd, and only the a1200 and a600 came with it iirc. So I think it doesn't make sense to make a whdload install that only works in a500? Whatever, the retroplay install where this happens is 'SecondSamurai_v1.3_0721.lha'

I have successfully tested the complete game when I updated the patch, please eliminate the too many unknown factors (i.e. test it on a real Amiga or on an emulator with the correct settings), if the problem still occurs in that case, you can reopen this ticket.

please allow me to report several issues with the Spaceport-installer:
1. The installer is missing the publisher-screen (Reline) and title-screen of the game (together with a digitized sample), see the ipf-release for example.
2. The music in the game menu (and after winning level 1) does not play right. Tracks are out of sync. And "instruments" seem to be missing. Sadly I can not be more specific, because I have no chance to record the music from a real Amiga:-(
3. The game crashes after winning level 1 (rescue all 5 men). Positive aspect of this: You can also here more garbles music here. Maybe it helps to fix the music problem.
4. If trainer is activated the rescued men are not counted, so it is not possible to win level 1.
5. Be advised that level 2 has a codecard-copyprotection needed to win the level and the game. Since I've never came that far with the whdload-installer I don't know if you took care of it:-)

Unable to shoot (OCS version with CD32 gamepad)
Hi !

When using the latest 2.0 slave with the OCS version, I can start a game by pushing the first gamepad button, the character can jump ("up" direction) but no button enables to shoot or spin.

I am using a CD32 gamepad. I do use the OCS version over the AGA one for its smoothness.

If you're using emulation, especially RetroArch puae, try to change the emulated devices for the retropad in quick menu->controls->port 1 controls->device type from automatic to cd32 pad, then save a override (for the core, if you only are using a whdload set, or for the game if you prefer to limit the change).

If you're using a actual amiga 1200 ignore this post. I only posted this because far too many people don't understand what's happening with the retropad and puae and think they're automatically using a cd32 controller in cd32 whlosd games (hint: whdloads are supposed to always run on the amiga 1200)

No, you are totally mistaken...
WHDLoad games are supposed to run on every Amiga, namely A1000/A500/500+/600/1200/3000/4000...
In processor language, supposed to run on every processor, namely 68000/010/020/030/040/060...
and those games also work on those machines (of course, exactly the same is under emulation)
O course, AGA games really need Amiga with AGA chipset (A1200/A4000). And really only a few games need at least 020 processors without AGA chipset.
I think, that mainly you didn't understand what WHDLoad actually is...
Other note... absolute majority of people posting issues here, use real Amigas and WinUAE...

As is also written in ReadMe, there is possible to select from these 4 screen modes:
 1: 256 lines, 32 colors
 2: 256 lines, 16 colors
 3: 200 lines, 32 colors
 4: 200 lines, 16 colors (default)


Unfortunately, 2 of selected screen modes are totaly wrong, here is reality:
 1: 256 lines, 32 colors---------------200 lines !!, 16 colors !!
 2: 256 lines, 16 colors---------------256 lines OK, 16 colors OK
 3: 200 lines, 32 colors---------------200 lines OK, 16 colors !!
 4: 200 lines, 16 colors (default)-----200 lines OK, 16 colors OK


About colors yet... I assume, number of colors is in game, I took pictures from "take off" to Photoshop. All 4 modes have really only 16 colors in game. (Just for info, I did also snaps of title screen, menu and all 4 modes have 32 colors, but it is not important)

I think, totally wrong are 32 color modes, they are absolutely the same as default mode "200 lines, 16 colors", picture snaps were bit copy of it.

Your observation is correct. It is a bug in the game code, the code to handle the screen height and number of colors input is completely broken, it never sets any 32 color mode. Thanks for the report, currently I'm not sure if I want to spend time fixing this. As long as this ticket is open, there is still hope. :)

[Feature request] Support for F1GP-Patch (faster framerate)
Hi !

Here is a feature suggestion :-)
There are several patches on Aminet which enable to increase the framerate in F1GP. It would be awesome if it were possible to use them along with the WHDLoad version :)

The framerate patch of F1GP-Ed already works with WHDLoad, it's even mentioned on the WHDLoad readme.

Possibility of creating Generic Kickemu slaves 1.3 ,3.1 to run eadf images
Is it possible to create a set of Generic Kickemu slaves 1.3, 3.1 to load an eadf images(s)? There are a lot of coverdisks and minor game titles that have basic non standard tracks and run as eadf's in Winuae. It would be great to know if WHDLoad is a possibility for them.

Sorry, that is not possible.
Reading nonstandard disk formats always requires individual Slave code. There cannot be a generic approach to solve this.

QuitKey in command line arguments cannot be in HEXadecimal, only in Decimal
QuitKey in command line arguments cannot be in HEXadecimal, only in Decimal
While in tool types it can also be in Hexa:

Quitkey=$67 works perfectly fine when calling whdload from an icon
while when calling it from command line you get

bad number

error. If you convert the number to decimal and use

Quitkey=103

It works in both command line and icon tooltype

Reason is that dos.ReadArgs is used to parse command line argnuments.
It's currently not planned to change this.

This WHDLoad of Emerald Mine 2 works very well. How ever I have noticed one

This WHDLoad of Emerald Mine 2 works very well. How ever I have noticed one small slight problem which would be good to get fixed. I noticed some of the sounds effects are missing from the normal disk based version of the game. In particular I have noticed the sounds effects for the enemy known as the "dum dums" and also the "robots" do not seem to be present in the WHDLoad version for some reason? These are the aliens that look like an orange round circle with a face and the other is a grey body with a red nose. Sorry if my description is not quite accurate.
I have tried the install on both my real Amiga 600 setup and in WinUAE to test it out. Both ways I tested don't have all the sound effects.
Other than this the game runs quite well

I also see issue with Emerald Mine (I) with no sound for those characters. Pressing F6 in the game turns the sounds back on.

Hi. I need to play with the trainer activated with F5 from start of level 2.

Hi.
I need to play with the trainer activated with F5 from start of level 2. Trainer seems to work for unlimited energy versus most monsters, but it does not with the balls spitted from the volcanoes, for instance in room 3 of level 2. The balls can still kill me (instant kill as i am on minimal energy bar level).
I think there might be something missing in the trainer.

AV8B Harrier Assault - Intro (loading) music doesn't play, & framerate seems a bit down maybe.
Couldn't locate it on the games list so didn't know where to submit this report.

Also, I can't measure it but the framerate of the game seems a bit down when compared to the real version when installed on hard disk via its own installer. Is there any reason you can think of for this? I used to run this slave years ago on an A600 with an ACA620 and the difference was quite remarkable between the WHDLoad version (jerky) and the real version (smooth) - but now on my A1200 the difference appears only slight. Anyway, that's a side note, but please have a think about it for a minute first before assuming I'm a nutter. :)
Very simple, you'll notice there's no music when the silver and black AV8B loading screen appears.
No music via WinUAE either.

"There's another problem with the install though that is more severe. I keep getting a message 'INSERT GAME DISK 2 - THEN CLICK MOUSE'. Once this message appears there is nothing that can be done except to quit the game via the WHDLoad QuitKey."

If you want to finish the level easier, the dinosaur will not attack the human if he's in the arms up pose, you can exploit this to get past it with waiting for it to pass then quickly move in the opposite direction to get the torch and come back without bothering with the spears.
