The demo completely freezes my machine at the point where the face enters from the left and the psychedelic background starts rotating. I have to perform a cold boot after it freezes. I have tried this multiple times and it freezes at the same location. Thanks!

The bonus level "Abu in the Cave" crashes with Exception
The bonus level "Abu in the Cave" crashes with Exception "Address Error" ($b00c)
at $5ff47a
(which is right after the "Cave of Wonders" level 3.)
Immediately after the 3rd set of rocks fall and hit the ground and break, there is a 60% chance of getting an error.
start with the following settings
WHDLoad Aladdin.slave ButtonWait Custom4=1 SavePath=RAM: NoWriteCache PRELOAD

Set joystick button to "Joypad throw" in the options menu.
(not sure if any of these steps play a role)

Reach the bonus level "Abu in the Cave"
(which is right after the "Cave of Wonders" level 3)
After the 3rd set of rocks fall, there is a 70% chance of getting an error:

Exception "Address Error" ($b00c)
at $5ff47a (Slave $35a) occured.
Installation was done using IPF 0420
Ran using FS-UAE 3.1.66 and WinUAE 3.6.1
Tested with both slave files v1.7 and v1.8 with same results at the same bonus level
Tested with both WHDload v18.5.5948 and v19.0.6739 with same results at the same bonus level

I've disabled preload for the game with the same results,
scrambled multi coloured corruption and potential crash.
The game is otherwise fine on all counts except the final multiple enemy battle. (using the cheat or not makes zero difference)
For what it's worth i also configured the winuae emulator with the same settings and limited memory (2+4) for a test.
 
The game worked without a problem on WUAE, with exception to the typical swap/load but has issue on real hardware with the blizzard 1220/4 card.
Very odd.

Amiga may eventually hang entirely, or display to a blank/half screen as torture continues.
Various Setpatch executables were attempted with very slightly different results or perhaps placebo effect?

I think is due to the change in 19.0 "init cias interrupt mask as documented".

Seems like the game expects CIAA Timer B interrupt to be enabled, but doesn't set it on it's own. ("W BFED01 $82" in WinUAE brings the music back)

Hello, I'm opening this report because i upgraded to the last install, and found some annoying and unexpected bugs.

- First, the in game movie sequences are never loaded (i did the game from start to the end), they are simply bypassed, why ?

- The current sighting/targeting operates in a strange manner, it's like the hellfire missiles quite often doesn't trigger the collision boxes on enemies, this doesn't happen when playing on Amiga 500 or 600 with the game floppies.

Can you work out those problems please ?
Simply play the game.

Use a slave from 2018 and later, Set Custom1=1 to enable CD32 pad by default, plug in a CD32 compatible joypad.

Run to find Squeak at the top middle of the stage and try commanding him to follow. It wont work.

Kicking him works.

The problem appears on every version since 2018

version 1.2 (27.01.06) done by JOTD: works OK with Green button to perform the Action Follow

UNERLIABLE 2nd BUTTON JUMP
Sometimes jump as 2nd button or with CD32 pad mode (WinUAE set to CD32 port emu and an XBox gamepad) doesn't work: it's totally random and mostly when keeping a direction (e.g. go underwater in first level and keep left or right direction and keep jumping... try more than once).
It's like it randomly misses the button press (not due to the fact that you have to land before you can perform another jump, it's not that...).

But I also noticed another issue: when using WHDLoad splash screen option for *3rd button=bomb* in game ("Normal" difficulty, you can switch with F1, F2, F3 on main menu... maybe this hint should be added in the docs!), it also switches weapon from standard stones -> axes (cheating!). I use:

REQUEST: BTW with 3rd button=Bomb enabled, long-press fire for the bomb should be better disabled IMHO... Forgive me, I'm a perfectionist ;-)

In the game manual, the Fkeys are mentioned for the diffculty level.

If you set 'remove Fire bomb control if 3rd button is pressed' option in custom, long fire button will be disabled (atfer the 3rd/green button is pressed one time).

Uh! Sorry didn't get it, indeed was mentioned in the Readme but I missed that part since usually options like that exclude each other... OK!

Just one exception case glitch: on your very first run, if you keep FIRE pressed for the bomb and while flashing you press the 3rd button when the icon was off you'll end up having no bomb icon anymore, and 3rd button activated.

Everything seems to work fine, except the fact I have frequent CON: crashes after I quit Ghost Battle, and only after I play it for 10-15mins :-\

My system is very stable, and tried other WHDLoad installs but seems to happen only after Ghost Battle... I'm using latest WHDLoad...

Let me test it a bit more for some days (using also other games, maybe has nothing to do with GB).

Do you set MMU and FULLCHIP options to see if something corrupts the memory system with a bad write memory access or a wrong blitter operation ?

Of course you dont’t set custom5=1, it will remove blitter wait and can corrupt chip memory beyond the game slave.
With FULLCHIP, all chip memory (instead of game slave) is saved and restored when it backs to the workbench.

Mmmh, this is a very problematic game... Also the first level ending with flying "Garuda" and the two dragon statues breathing fire: sometimes randomly one of the two statues doesn't breath fire after the animation + sound...
Looks like there are a lot of minor random glitches, very time-consuming to reproduce :(

2/3 button joystick mode is completely broken. Take Moktar for instance, character keeps jumping and jumping.

the fix 19.0 => 19.1 is required but not enough.
run Moktar (other games probably "work" too) with WinUAE with "USB Gamepad" in "default" mode (not CD32 joypad)

Character jumps and jumps ...

Working fine with CD32 joypad setting.

Access Fault on selecting third option for 7th map
When selecting the rightmost map option for Harkonnen 7th battle I get an error:

Selecting leftmost or middle one works. Savegame file included as attachment. This seems to happen at least with FS-UEA when 68060 is selected as CPU (and Blizzard 1260, 128MB Ram) and OS 3.2. When I try with stock A600 or A1200 setting, it works. I haven't tested yet with real hardware. Not sure yet if it is a issue with OS version or CPU type/speed. I will test more and report.

If the player moves in a specific area at the top or the bottom of the screen, the sprite of his bee starts to flicker.
Soon it disappears completely.

This also affects the enemy sprites.

I've managed to get a working configuration.

If you use UAE with these options, the problem is solved:
2MB Chip, 8 MB Fast and 68030 with "optimize for host speed"

But only if you use preload.
Without preloading the game crashes.

If you switch from 68030 to 68020 the problem reappears again.

You can use that one instead, if you want.
Like 1.40 because of the Kaiko screen. Thats how it was on my Original Disks back then; if you use the 2.05 then there is also a playbyte logo.

The current Slave´s called Apidya.SlaveNew and is in the Apidya Folder.

Change the SlaveName in the Tooltypes (Icon)
from Apidya.slave to Apidya.SlaveNew ,then 2.05 will be used ;)

ingame bug makes game unplayable
SlaveVersion: 1.1 from 18.04.2003

After leaving the castle of King Rohan to the south, the game puts the player on a wrong position in the outer area. If I turn north, instead of the castle there is the entrance to the woods (see attached screenshot). From the position were the game puts the player on it's also impossible to enter the open landscape, so I can not continue the adventure.

Another issue is a massiv graphical error in the map screen (see attachment).

The Loading/Password screen needs a Buttonwait - otherwise its way too fast.
When finishing a Level, the Player gets a Password, but there is no Buttonwait!

That means, that the Player has about 2-3 Seconds for writing down the Password XD
; and that is pretty unlikely ;)

This game is natively a bit slow, and displaying in a small window. It correctly runs in 60h, that make the game smoother and with a wider display. But the screen is centered in 50hz, so bottom of the screen is overflows we do not see some information (like the energy gauge).
Can you fix it like it has been made in many other games?
Just launch the game with the NTSC tooltype ;)

XCOM UFO Defense ECS crash at end game
On the very last level, if all of the enemies are destroyed before killing the boss (giant brain) and then advancing to the next turn, the game crashes (screenshot enclosed). If the boss is destroyed first, then the game finishes correctly. Maybe it is a bug in the game code?

The same happends also with the Powermonger WW1 expansion.

A bit odd.

The Copyprotection/crack is a bit timing sensitive.
This can lead to problems on some configs.

Anyway, just wanted to report that.

I confirm this, there is a problem with targeting/sighting with missiles and ammo the collision seems to fails also on my part.

I have also opened a report, because the in game movie sequences are never loaded and displayed.

Completing the level "Spooky Ruins" with remaining time (Bonus Stage) will result in a crash:

Conclusion: I believe the game cannot afford losing any of the 2MB Chip RAM.
Having multiple Floppy Drives or Hard Drives can cause this problem as they use up a few kb of Chip RAM during mount.

Recently, I just for fun tested this issue and have to confirm it. The game really crashes with "Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" ($2C) at $C41A6 occured."
Tested in WinUAE 68020/2MB chip/128MB fast, twice (Full Cycle Exact and also in JIT), and the issue is independent of WinUAE compatibility settings.
This game is just unplayable, this slave is wrong and should be repaired.
Whdl_register is attached.

P.S. ztronzo's level code "93/a/MZXY3" somehow doesn't work at me, I had to use code from Hall of Light "sXr7vgqaGP".

BTW, I wouldn't say the slave is wrong, as this happens with the original game too when you do an HDD install using the developer's method. But I do wish for a fix.
The game demands the maximum Chip memory which is 2MB on any real Amiga, and that's why clicking the workbench icon also triggers a reboot to launch the game.
Having anything that reduces the chip memory (such as additional drives or so) will cause the same effect.

Unfortunately I forgot to screenshot the exact error message, but it didn't pinpoint a PC in valid ram, so I think it's a stack issue or an overwriting code/structure issue. Not related to in-game event.
Play for a while, eventually crashes. NoCache *seems* to have helped, but obviously can't prove a negative from only 1.5h of play.

I tried the game with the CHkInst option, the game behaved a bit strangely (slowed down) but it didn't crash.
The GFX and sound problems are only visible in the intro, but the main game works without problems.

I stopped the game at the point where the problems occur using the "DebugKey" option. (see WHDL.reg text below)

Not able to access DH0: files in Workbench 1.3 slave with reqtools file requester
The slave mounts a volume called WHDLoad: (device DH0:). When I use reqtools.library with https://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/DiskMimic, the reqtools file requester is not able to access the drive. Ram: is always showing in the drawer string. Putting WHDLoad: or DH0: will cause screen to blink as though it is not accessible.
Please try to access files from WHDLoad: with reqtools file requester to see if the volume can be accessed.

Hi,
There used to be a female voice saying 'Warning, missile lock' when selecting 'Training' in the Config tab in the game, which is now missing.
Other female voices, like 'fuel low' and 'fuel empty' are present, though.
It is possible that another version of this amazing game, which I currently have in my HD. This one has the factories and mines in the TACT map in stable green color, instead of flashing yellow.
Or it may be just a hacked version, I don't know....
Do you guys happen to know anything about this?

ReadJoyPort parasite outputs
I think the underlying readjoypad routine implemented in whdload has issues.

I've adapted a lot of games to call this implementation and some games have parasite second button reads when using just first button.

Observation from watching joypad reads in Turrican II (WinUAE only at this stage) - all held button bits are shifting up by 1 in some reads - not just spurious red button presses.

i.e. sometimes Red (bit 22) becomes Blue (bit 23), but likewise yellow (21) will become red, green (20) will become yellow, etc.

Blue will alternate between bit 23 and not triggering at all - if you hold down blue to jump in game your character will keep half jumping because the button appears held then not held. :-)

To me it looks like the first potinp test is happening slightly late sometimes, i.e. actual first button (Blue) isn't read in time, so all remaining buttons are treated as Blue onwards when it is supposed to be Red.

I notice that in ReadJoypad.s, the first potinp test is after 6x tst.b $bfe001 instructions (for waiting), but all subsequent potinp tests have 8x tst.b gap. This approach was not taken in resload_ReadJoyPort (all reads have 8x tst.b wait, including first).

Confirmed - shortening the first CIA 8x tst wait to 6x was enough to fix the problem in my testing. I also moved the bset/bclr ciapra calls for the trigger pulse to be adjacent.

All other RJP code left alone. I don't think the caching/TOD timing is an issue here.

One thing I'm not sure about - is the final pulse after all buttons have been read necessary? In original ReadJoyPad.s, additional pulses happen at the end of the loop just before dbf, meaning after the last button has been read there is one final pulse (but no potinp read). In WHDLoad RJP I see that there bclr has been moved to the top of the loop but not the bset.

I wonder if instead both bset/bclr could be at the top so we don't do unnecessary work. However that is a change in behaviour so I'm uncertain. Perhaps it is safest to do what ReadJoyPad was already doing.

Doing some more precise testing on this, it seems the change that matters the most is the order of the initial pulse + potgo set. The following is the order in ReadJoyPad.s:

bset d3,ciaddra(a1) ;set bit to out at ciapra

move.w d5,potgo(a0)

WHDL version has ciapra + potgo the other way around (with some instructions in between):

bset #CIAB_GAMEPORT1,(ciaddra,a1) ;output mode (trigger pulse)
move #$6f00,(_custom+potgo) ;input mode (data)
moveq #RJPB_BLUE,d2 ;first button to read
moveq #7-1,d3 ;amount of bits/buttons to check
bclr #CIAB_GAMEPORT1,(ciapra,a1) ;trigger pulse low

This order matters! Changing potgo write to be immediately after bclr in the above instructions is enough to fix the problem - not even reducing the number of tst.b instructions makes a difference to my tests.

However I think because we know ReadJoyPad.s works, I will still reduce the initial tst.b instructions as well.

Hi JOTD. Great work on the installs you've done. I have a question about using the Super Skidmarks install. The game has 6 track choices. The DATA folder in the install folder has 4 track files. Are these files the 4 Track data disks of v2.2? How do I choose tracks if each disk has 6 tracks presumably?
If the Data Disk v2.21 set is used; can it be added to an install or is a fresh install neccessary?
You've listed the Data Disk pack as 9 disks (bad dumps) and as supported on the WHDLoad install page. I've bought a copy and officially it's only Track Disk 5, Track Disk 6 and v2.21 HD amigados Program Disk (3 disks). It is coming with the rest of the game too though so maybe users just add the lot together?
I made working IPF images from Track disk 5 and Track disk 6 with Keir Frasers disk utilities using a variable raw parameter rather than the Super Skidmarks Acid protection parameter of the original version. If the data pack disks are not supported they could be. The images are currently in the zone on EAB.

Hello, I bought Dungeon Master French version, version 2.0 a few times ago.

I have installed the game with your latest installation, and when the game starts, i get my 4 players, and i head to the metal grid leading to the second part of the level 00, after the halls of champions.

Problem : the pressure plate should open the metal grid, i hear the click, but the door remains down. It's a protection side effects .....
Simple : launch the game, pick 4 champions, then go the metal grid and try to open it with the pressure plate. It will never open.

Use a normal joystick for player 1 - (port 1)
Start the game with human controlled North army (blue army) and CPU for controlling the South army (grey army).
Suddenly during the map after a few battles, you cannot click at all to select units and order them, but you can move the pointer normally.
The only way you can click on a unit to order is to use a CD32 Joypad with player 2 (port 0) and hit the "Blue button" on the CD32 pad, even though the game is launched for 1 player and was working fine just before the last battle.
The problem above does not happen when you start a game with human controlled South army (grey) and CPU controlled North army (blue).

2nd player also always has to use the keyboard in the fort attacks. This introduces more issues with inputs sticking and being eaten. This sometimes makes even menuing impossible since the cursor keeps wandering. All these issues make the 2 player mode unplayable at the moment.

Would you mind giving the attached update a go? You will need WHDLoad 19 (currently in beta) as this uses the new built-in CD32 pad reading feature.

Set CUSTOM2=1 to enable CD32 controls.

I have tried to be careful about how 'up' is replaced by 2nd button so only Jump is affected. This meant reworking checks the game does around ladders, because if stood in front of a ladder, climbing used to take priority over jumping. The advantage now is that you can choose whether to jump or climb!

However I am not certain if other parts of the game might be affected, so it needs plenty of testing for now. :-)

To help others using WHDLoad pre-packed installs for The Bard's Tale II: Destiny Knight having issues with 1) 'Load saved game' and 2) 'Disk options > Load Bard I member'
freezing or not working...
create a dummy empty file named .../data/members/save.game (from Shell: "echo >save.game").
Then while playing, after you enter the city, press S key to save game
if missing, create an additional dir .../data/membersbt (from Shell: "Makedir membersbt") for The Bard's Tale I party members to be imported

This should solve any problem/error when you use those 1, 2 options.

I imagine that the author of this slave can now adjust it so that it does work with modified disks in the future.

The installer must have some sort of checksum to confirm the disk is the same as expected and it will need modifying to ignore the part of the disk where the high score is saved.

I have three issues. I press cheat key DRINN and move to step b, I think the rock is a little broken. I press the space key. And one issue is that writing DRI in cheat key window and then erasing it to the end and using DRINN makes the screen weird. (Step b) And one issue is that if you go from step a to step b, the screen gets weird too when you press numeric key 5. (Step b) It seems like the part where the problem occurred is step b. There might be an issue I didn't find. One more thing, number key 5 shows the bug and then it doesn't.

I'm starting to look at this and will probably build a new patch.

I can hear that the music plays too fast, so that's on my list.

The actual arrow keys/keyboard controls not working is a bad implementation of keyboard handling. It seems that the game only remembers/registers the last key you pressed - e.g. if you move right then press up to jump, the game forgets you were going right! So my guess it only tracks one key at a time rather than registering individual key down/up events (which is essential if keyboard control is ever going to work). I will know once I examine further.

However from the above it sounds like you're changing the arrow keys to map to a controller anyway. I don't use FS-UAE (only WinUAE) so I can't comment on that specifically. If I find something odd in the game, when all directions are pressed at once, then I'll fix it if I can, but some of this sounds like emulator quirks.

Please leave it with me. There is no need to continually raise bug reports/additional messages now. If I have anything further to report I will let you know.

The keyboard controls, as coded, really don't work well in this game - pressing a key cancels out the one you are already holding, so you cannot do things like run right and jump. On real hardware such as A1200, keyboard controls such as this are problematic anyway, so I don't know that it is worth fixing those any further.

You should use a controller (or configure keys mapped to a controller if using an emulator).

Just wanted to reiterate that slave 1.1 is mostly regression on real Amiga's.

On my A1200 with 060 accelerator, the game speed seems normal, but the music plays too fast, and with ExpChip the game runs half framerate.
Also on a stock A600+4mb the 1.1 version runs half framerate.

Slave 1.0 runs perfectly on both systems, but only works with really old WHDLoad version.

Game wants to speed up when in "Attract Mode"
This is just a tiny thing, but when Hybris is in the "Attract Mode" ;
meaning, you dont press any button, let the music play
and let the game "introduce itself".

When you wait for about 1 minute it shows you all the Enemy Types.

This is where the game wants to scoll faster,
everytime one enemy is introuced to the player.
(Becomes Fast;then Slow. Fast; then slow ...)

Tooltypes wont change this. (at least, i could not find any that do)

Its a little thing, really.
I just wanted to report it at least.

By the way, ich used the German (a1k.org) Version (Flug der Amazon Queen).
In the English version of the Game it is the same.

I can confirm this bug, it also happens with the english version of the game. However, the crash does NOT happen when using version 1.0 of the slave, only with 1.1! I thought this might be important information... ;-)

The second thiefs quest cannot be completed. The secret door at the Temple of Tempus cannot be found/entered.

Enter the Temple of Tempus and ran straight up. There should be a short narrow room going north. When running in WDHload, there are two statues on the west wall. The lower one is where the secret door should be. Running west at this point will not do anything.
I retried with the IPF image on a gotek in my real Amiga 500 with Kickstart 1.3. At the same position there is only one statue and you can enter the secret door.
You do not need to be on the Thiefs quest to reproduce the issue. Any non-cleric character can break open the door to the Temple of Tempus and enter the secret room (as with any of the other locations with secrets doors, e.g. the haunted house).
I think that the copy protection was not fully patched out by the slave.
I am running Hillsfar on my X5000 with E-UAE SDL.

The Second button always resets the current Level - Please fix
Hi.... again :)

if Joystick or Joypad is chosen from the options,
the second button ALWAYS resets the current Level.
Pretty annoying, especially if the level is almost completed XD

If you attempt to fix this a function to switch Humans with the
second button would be neat. !

and Button 1&2 together bring up the Skills menue (instead of space)

That would be very nice !

When i'll free time (perhaps soon), i will try to clean-up src code of EOB1&2 AGA perhaps fix known bugs, optimize automap codes (badly coded because in first it was used just for debug) and release full src code.

BUG 3:
both games have some issue with keyboard shortcuts: C opens Camp menu, then R to Rest etc. and upper left keyboard key "\" (or ' son some keyboards) (0x00) if kept pressed seem to casue input freezes where only mouse movement is allowed and no LMB or RMB do work anymore after you play a bit with keyboard in Camp menu... Possibly keyboard interrupt issue?

I see now beta slave 0.3 won't crash anymore on "Quit the Game" from Options menu after you opened at least once automap (TAB).
It now resets the WHDLoad sandbox restarting from beginning (intro etc.) if you already opened the map (TAB), or will cleanly quit to WB if you didn't open the map before.

Details about previously reported bugs

BUG3 (7132): it seems to happen with EOB I AGA only, when pressing numpad numbers (e.g. 8=up...).

EOB I AGA gfx corruption (7131): confirmed it happens only after you open the automap at least once. Immediately after Loading game there is no corruption.

I also just noticed is still possible to switch front screen with AmigaOS combination LAMIGA+N or M. It should be removed (confusing!).

"Extra features" idea would still be a great addition... ;)
a) modern WASDQE as alternative movement keys (CUSTOMx ttype?). NOTE: the remap, in case, should be disabled when opening Camp menu or some keys will act as numpad up/down instead of shortcuts for submenus (R=Restore party, S=Memorize spells, etc.).
b) RMB on compass to open/close automap (just like TAB key)

Music in Menu missing and Alternative Controls Requested
First is an actual bug:
In the main menu of the game, after the intro, there should be music playing. However in the WHDLoad version this music is only present in the intro, not in the actual game menu.

Second is a request for an improvement:
Being one of the best isometric adventure games on the Amiga ever, would it be possible to add alternative joystick/joypad controls where you don't have to press TWO directions (diagonal) to move the player north/south/east/west, but assign them as they are assigned for the keyboard cursor keys. With the keyboard this is already possible and working fine. But with the joystick/joypad you have to annoyingly hold the joystick in the diagonal positions which is not very comfortable when playing.

The music after the intro is only available if extra memory is detected. I have explicitly set the slave to use 0.5 MB chip memory only, as there is no need for a RAM disk (disk version builds one if extra memory is detected) in the WHDLoad version. And the music after the intro doesn't justify using 0.5 MB more memory for the patch either.

I don't think I will do that. Too much work for almost no benefit. I would need to have 2 slaves in the package, adapt the install script to support these 2 different slaves and I would also have to create code to adapt the memory list code to add a fast memory node.
I will check when I implement the alternate controls to see if I can create a 1 MB slave that plays the menu music, but don't hold your breath.

The alternate controls implementation is more or less the reason for this. Never played the game with joystick because of that, only keyboard.

I have extended my own personal deadline by 60 minutes and spent 90 minutes to create a 1 MB slave, it is experimental and there most probably will be problems. Use it at your own risk and don't report any problems with that slave, I will happily ignore any bug reports. :)
I have attached the slave to this ticket, it will not be available in the official package on WHDLoad.

We are seeing the same issue using WHDLoad on MiSTer, the game just freezes when you try to proceed past the title screen. No exit with QUITKEY possible, must reset the computer.

I know this has been filed as Priority: Normal, Severity: Minor — but it is a crash bug that doesn’t only take down the game, it takes down the entire system, so it requires a reboot. (Was just reminded today when someone asked what was going on and why the game broke everything)

I no longer see any more freezes! A few things I have noticed:

1) I'm not able to access the cheats related to "‘G’, FIRE BUTTON, LEFT MOUSE, and RIGHT MOUSE." Only thing that happens is that I get to the level editor. The "HELP" cheat seems to not need the previous keyboard combination and that one is working.
2) Also, I notice some graphic corruption on the top of the screen when I go upside down in level 4.

[Zero Gravity] add support for protected euro version and US imager issue
Support for copy protected european version.
This version installs fine but it hangs when protection check kicks in.

Slave already support the US Microdeal version.
Only issue with this is the DIC imager just needs to skip tracks 79.0-79.1.
That's a minor issue.

The Game is in TURBO mode with anything but EXPCHIP.

But with EXPCHIP itself its almost too slow.

Even back in the day it was criticized for that decision. (even with 1 Button, Fire to accelerate and Up for Nitro would have been way better)

I still remember, first playing this game back at a friends house and thought,
"why is it that way ? > Thats stupid; but what a fun game !!!"

Sure, today there are ways around that issue, but a general fix would be so very nice.

sorry, but this is really your "Hall of Shame".
No music, backgrounds aren't killing player… it's just horrible.
Gary and Ryan Gould spent hundreds of hours by creating of this nice software and you are able to destroy their work in a few moments.
Don't you really want to revisit your install and make it working as it should be? If not, this install should be deleted from WHDLoad site in my opinion, because is suitable maybe only for your home use.

Woody's world has a corruption problem on Amigas above A500 & A600 1Mb
Hello Stingray, as i messaged you, the game works correctly on Amiga 500 & 600 1Mb from floppies, but gets corruption on higher amigas.

Once installed on whdload, if you go on the checker castle (press ESC on the map to access options, then click 'LOAD', and enter the code : KLOPDABG then click on continue,and choose the checker castle on the map, located at the down part of it), you will notice graphics corruption appearing gradually, when you go to the left of the screen/level.

Can you fix this problem completely, and can i ask if you can install the game as files if it is possible ?

I tried the tooltype.

Strange... with same install on 3 systems :

1) On my Real A1200 all works correctly without any tooType (68030 @40 MHZ NO MMU & OS 3.1.4.1)

2) On my real A500 ACA500Plus to problem is solved with that Tooltype (68000 @28 Mhz & OS 3.1.4.1)

3) Under Winuae 5.3.0 64 Bits 68030 NO MMU & OS 3.5 the toolType didn"t change anything... But WINUAE isn't important for me.

WINUAE is only to create my installations before transfer them on my reals Amiga(s)

Using CUSTOM1=1 to skip intro and running the game on OCS causes garbled graphics in-game
If the latest WHDLoad install for Shadow of the Beast (2022-10-23) is run on an OCS/ECS machine (Amiga 600 with HDD, for example), and CUSTOM1=1 is used to skip intro, all background graphics are garbled in-game.

It doesn't seem to happen on AGA systems.
-Install Beast WHDLoad on an OCS/ECS machine (Rom 3.1 tested).
-Launch with CUSTOM1=1
-Begin game.

Freezes at difficulty level select when using a TF1260 IDE interface
When launching the slave from the TF1260 IDE interface:
Game launches, gets to the difficulty selection screen and then freezes. The Music continues, but game is frozen. I can quit with PrtSc.
If I launch the slave from the onboard IDE interface, it runs as expected.
Running on an A1200 with TF1260, Kickstart 3.2.2 and Amiga OS 3.2.2.1

Completing the level "Spooky Ruins" with remaining time to reach Bonus Stage
Will result in a crash:

This issue does not happen with the OCS version.

go to far right "Spooky Ruins" (last blue point on the right)

Speed run to complete the level with remaining time to reach "Bonus Stage"
(You can also use infinite energy trainer to do this)

Upon loading the Bonus stage you will get kicked out of the game with error:

This possibly happens in other locations too..

to elaborate, although the readme requirements say
2.0 MB ChipMem and 3.5 MB OtherMem for AGA version.

Conclusion: I believe the game cannot afford losing any of the 2MB Chip RAM.
Having multiple Floppy Drives or Hard Drives can cause this problem as they use up a few kb of Chip RAM during mount.

Recently, I just for fun tested this issue and have to confirm it. The game really crashes with "Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" ($2C) at $C41A6 occured."
Tested in WinUAE 68020/2MB chip/128MB fast, twice (Full Cycle Exact and also in JIT), and the issue is independent of WinUAE compatibility settings.
This game is just unplayable, this slave is wrong and should be repaired.
Whdl_register is attached.

P.S. ztronzo's level code "93/a/MZXY3" somehow doesn't work at me, I had to use code from Hall of Light "sXr7vgqaGP".

Trying to help, I tried the latest Slave 1.1 Debug on my 2 Amiga types.
There are some graphics issues with this latest version.
on my Amigas there is a superposition of images at the level of the buildings with the image flashing during the race and even in the short presentation with the skull ...
On my A500ACA500PLUS while I was racing the screen suddenly went black with a complete loss of the video signal and I had to reboot to get a video signal with the workbench.
On my A1200 (GVP Turbo+2 68030+FPU @40 Mhz with 32 MB) same graphics problems and then suddenly a return to the workbench with a WDHLOAD error message ...
But with Your previous Slave 1.0 and 1.1 (December 2007),
the game seems to works correctly on my 2 Amigas without any graphics problems & without any errors messages ...
These are my observations,

Wow, that's really cool, the graphic errors are over and the crashes also. I played the first level complete and it worked, but in the second level the game suddently had a kind of freeze. I was driving on a straight lane and suddently the street moved on while the car and other cars in the game freezed.

Yes these Tooltypes works
EXPCHIP for My A1200 (GVP TURBO+II 60830 @40Mhz + FPU AND 32MB RAM)
EXPLocal for My A500ACA500PLUS (68000 @14 Mhz WITH 7MB RAM).
Both resolves graphics problems on game on my both Amiga(s) except on intro with Skull (flashing).
But on my both systems on 1st stage sudently when the car stay behind a truck the game freeze and I need to press my Quitkey ($46) to return to workbench because I can't continue to play...the sound freeze too...
With Your initial Slave 1.1 from 2007 tooltypes were not necessary, no graphics problems were presents (intro + in game) on my both systems.
Under WINUAE Without any ToolTypes graphics problems are the same (WINUAE 4.4.0 64Bit)WHDLOAD 16.6
Sorry to report that....Because I really appreciate Your Works for WHDLOAD community...

Graphics problems seems not presents on both systems but the game freeze each time sudently when the cars stay behind a truck on 1st Level.
I Fact, the scenery of the road continues to move forward but the music freeze and the car is no longer controllable.
for the intro of the game with the different screens and the skull I really prefer the result of the slave 1.1 from 2007.
Sorry to repeat that but the result of Your Slave 1.1 from 2007 is really better for me...
Maybe others players can try it.

Chris you must have an early version/a buggy version of the graphics chip where blitterwait is slightly buggy.

Some games are using a non-compliant blitterwait and it fails on some machines.

Crazy Cars III had the same issue.

I'm going to investigate the freezes now.

That's correct. With the first installer I got access faults and graphic errors, with V1.1 they were fixed but the game freezes on level 2 with V1.1

isn't the proper way to wait for blitter anyway. you have to perform a first btst before the loop (some machines can fail seeing bbusy)

There may be issues with dma audio missing delays. Attached a new slave and also changed the blitwaits to use absolute custom address as cfou! suggestion (that's a vicious issue!!)

The first custom chip access for the blitter wait (doesn't have to be btst, can be a simple tst.b $dff002 too for example) is only needed when DMA load is high (5 bitplanes or more) and machine has a very old Agnus installed. It shouldn't make any difference for the majority of cases where a blitter wait is needed if the first access is not done.

for sure I tried the latest installer version. I guess my version is really unsupported. I reported many bugs in the installers in the past and have a lot of experience in that. After analyzing I guess the only way to fix that is that I send you the core dump logs of the error and you try to fix the access fault.

I have updated the patch and removed all default interrupts, copperlist creation and some other stuff. Most likely this was part of my template code that I didn't remove for some reason. The intro runs in vAmigaWeb now.
Keep reporting these problems, there are probably a lot more patches with such problems.

Violator is a pretty hard shmup similar to SWIV but low budget and no doc/manual exists nor is mentionned in the 3 available reviews that smartbombs exist and can be triggered by pressing the space bar.
So my request is to mention it in the readme (since it is said nowhere) and maybe add it to the slave as an option for 2-buttons joystick/joypad.

Right mouse button not detected on pre-mission map
Before flying a mission the player can check things out with a detailed map that can display enemy and allied assets, waypoints, weather etc. You are supposed to be able to zoom in and out of the map to see things close up, but this does not work with either a normal Amiga mouse or with my Tikus usb mouse adaptor. Strangely, I was unaware of the problem until recentlly because I was using a Cocolino adaptor with a ps2 mouse which worked perfectly!

At all other times in Tornado the mouse buttons (which are both used) work correctly.
At the start of the game, click the main option, "Flight".
Now click "Combat".
Now click "Mission".
Now choose a mission eg Number 9: IDS EWR Night Attack,
Now, bottom of the screen, to the right click "COMMIT" (this takes you to the map screen)
You are now looking at the map for the mission, showing your route and waypoints, and if you put the pointer on the map and hold down the right mouse button, it should bring up the magnification tab, but doesn't for me.

I tried it on WinUAE and it works properly with and without JIT.
(Oddly enough this mouse problem is reversed in Steel Empire where the Cocolino will not support the Left button being held down, but the others work perfectly)

With Tornado I'm mainly using a PiStorm but the problem also arises on 060 - I don't knoow about 040, 030, 020.

Doesn't seem to work for this case on my B1260 either. Same issue with v 1.0 of the slave. RMB does work when you do opt (lower right corner) -> explore.

Code uses OS and does not seem too bad, so very strange. No idea currently :(

corrupt king file in civilization AGA
Hi Psygore. Nice install. Works great. A few years ago I noticed a bug in Civilization AGA when you met the German king his graphic was always corrupt. It turned out the file was compressed or altered in someway unlike the other files. This bugg also affects the WHDLoad. A simple fix would be to include the fixed graphic file as part of the install and replace it during the installation. I have included the graphic here.

Second button for switching between the Humans CD32 version
Hi, again ;)

Its so odd to have to press F1, F2,F3,F4, to change between Humans.

The Clock is ticking and a feature to switch the humans with the second button would really help.

Hmmmm. If i would not be such a clumsy Human, i would do it myself ;)

Second Button = switching between HUmans
Button 1&2 together = switching between "skills".

Please do it for all those Humans that like to play the CD32 without having a Cd32 Controller.

(Cd32 is the best because the streamlined the loading AND it contains also the add on "Humans 2. Its the all in one solution)

Its impossible to enter a Password for Humas CD32
Its Impossible to enter a Password without a CD32 PAD.
This "CD32 game" is yet another OCS Floppy game pressed on a CD-Disc.
(ok it includes Human and the "addon" Humans 2)

All the Keyboard functions are the same as on the A500 BUT the
Password screen does requiere a CD32 PAD.
(That screen was made for this version)

Would be neat if that screen could be used with a normal 2 button joypad.
(just changing the position with Left & Right on the D-pad)

and maybe to add a 2 button support for:

Second Button = switching between HUmans
Button 1&2 together = switching between "skills".
Fire double Tap = Pick up items

This is a bit confusing. There are basically 2 installs for the same game!!!

First, there is this one.

It´s the specific Human Race - The Jurassic Levels Install aka Humans 2,
which extract the files without making whole Disk images. That one is nice because the intro can be skipped, BUT it playes ZERO sound effects.

Second, there is this install.

it supports the fist human game, then HUMAN RACE - the jurassic Levels aka Huams 2 and the CD32 Humans game that combine basically both games.

This one makes whole Images from disks and the SFX are working, but the loooooong "Intro" cant be skipped.

The controls are horrible in all Humans Amiga versions.
Enter = pickup and drop
Space = switch between skills
Arrow = switch between the humans
Fire is only used for throwing a spear and so but Enter has to be pressed first, to get the spear "ready". Thats so convoluted; its crazy !!!

A total mess. (with a stupid story why that is ... in short, it was rushed)

Would be nice to get the install confusion fixed and pleeease fix the controls.
2 Buttons would be enough to do all the actions...

(hold fire + left or right = switch humans)
(2nd button + left or right = switch skills)
(2nd button = pick up objects)
(and fire is just that. fire. DONE controls fixed)

The issues with the Game is a strange one. Every time you reach the end of a Level, there is a Signpost which is the end of that Section or the Level. On the first Level, the first Signpost is there, so you can carry on to the next section of the Level, however the next one (Red I think it is) Is missing on Screen. So because it ain't there, the level continues for a brief while then platforms stop and your Character falls off the Cliff. Possible due to a Copy Protector. All versions I have tried on WHDLOAD are the same. I have Physical Versions and recently played ADF Version on a Live Stream, and plays fine. Its just the WHD Versions with this Bug.
I have Screenshots I can send you as I don't think I can attach them here.

Probably something wrong with protection bypass
Almost at the end of a game there is a puzzle with Zodiac dial and piano. Solving this puzzle should open a secret passage. I solve the puzzle but passage stays closed. I consulted on this case with people from EAB forum and they said that it's probably a problem with copy protection. WHDLoad install bypasses protection but it probably still exists and prevents from completing a game.
Is it possible to have a Fascination install without protection bypass? Manual protection codes are available on HOL.

CannonFodder on A530 + WHDLOAD - performance is trash. Game is unplayable - super slow. Second mission will show you why.
CannonFodder on HD8+ WHDLOAD - stock a500 performance. Quick Loading.
CannonFodder on A530 on Gotek/FDD - perfect performance ingame. Zero lags. Steady framerate like on CD32 with TF328/fastram. Perfect.
So in this game combo WHDLOAD with A530 destroys performance. I wonder if it is fixable and what is the reason behind this. Or is this Chipmem issue. Clearly the game can take advantage of A530 but only from floppy. So it is possible.
CannonFodder on A530 + JST runs 100% better than on WHDLOAD on the same slave. It is playable... I would say the performance is close to stock A500 sometimes worse sometimes even better. There are slowdowns.
CF is one of the best games ever - at least for me. If it is possible to track down why this is happening - cool!!!

Archipelagos crashes on exit
As per https://github.com/amigavision/AmigaVision/issues/181 — this game crashes on exit. This happens on both MiSTer and FS-UAE, so it seems to be an issue with the WHDLoad adaptation.
- Start the game
- Exit with the QUITKEY (DEL in our case)
- Game crashes

This means that you cannot save your progress.

There are a few games that had that problem on a certain Mist/er Core.

Either CACHE or NOCACHE (Tooltypes) fixed that for me.
or
using a older WHDLoad (17.0) or the newest WHDLoad (19.beta) will fix that too.

What exactly happens when you press LMB in the intro? Do you see the title screen or does nothing happen? If the title screen is visible, you need to wait for the demo to load and decrunch the data for the main part, that takes a while.

Now, considering that the game works correctly and faster under NTSC, coupled with those two suggested cheats above, it would make of a great show off for miggy as it reaches speed on par with the famous sonic games.

This image creates the exact same files as with the supported release. It should should also give a different filelog.
I assume there were errors during install from floppies as the disk format has no checksums.
Please install from the wwp and try again.

Hi there,

I have both games here, but as far as I know we found out that my version of "Jocky Wilson's Dart Challenge" was overwritten with a crack.
Here is my image:

I also found no IPF of this game to recover it so I guess it's a problem of mine.

Ah, yes, that's right.
I forgot about that.

Sad thing is, the disk you have is a cracked Quartex version, so it's definitely an overwritten original you have.

Unsupported version of Banshee / Core Design

Hi JOTD,

At the same time, Could You Have a look to CD32 Version,
 
I have some problem sabout CD32 Version on my A1200 with that version,

I use a Tom+ USB adaptor with a Logitech F310 PAD

For all other gam it works but with the CD32 version (ONLY) is catastrophic...

With the Standard A1200 version it works like a charm.

I just tested the game in CD32 version on my A1200.
There are no functional movements either with the directional cross or the Pad joysticks.
The problem is present whether it is in the menus with an inability to go down among the menu choices and it is the same thing in the game.
In the floppy version everything works correctly.
