| Summary | 0006835: Porting the Keyboard to Button Maping feature from JST to WHDLoad n Stuff | ||||||||||||
| Description | Hello Wepl (T_T) 1) I just wanted to ask if it would be possible to port the "Keyboard too Button" Mapping feature from JST to WHDLoad because its really useful. There are numerous Games which where not updated and this would give the enduser way more options/map keyboard buttons by himself. Lets take a Example. Last Ninja 2 (yeah not a good game on Amiga by any means, while it kickedd ass on the C64, but just as an example) It needs the HELP Key to change the Weapons (which is a pain in the ... when in tight situation) and the DEL Key to scroll through the Items. With JST, i can easily put HELP on the Second JoypadButton and DEL on the Mouse. (or do a combo like Weapons (HELP) on the second button AND on the left MB and Items (DEL) on the righ MB. Pretty cool actually! So, i ending up using a WHDLoad slave with JST, because WHDLoad doesnt have that feature...;why not ? Well, you might say "Use JST instead" and thats a fair point but JST has one serious issue, namely saving stuff, like Highscores & Co. (Last Ninja2 does not save anything so JST can be used) Would be so awesome if you could implement this feature into WHDload. Maybe even expand it with a multifunction feature like being able to add two or four keys onto one button. Like with the Last Ninja 2 example. Holding the 2nd Button and UP would be HELP and 2nd Button and Down would be DEL. Thats would be awesome ! StingRay (RIP) :( did something like this for Ski or Die, because i asked him if he could do it. There is this event in Ski or die where you throw snowballs and foes come from North,East,South & west. Players had to use the arrow keys to change the directions while all this action was going on; he solved that with holding the Firebutton and UP (switches to North), hold fire and press right (it switches to EAST) and so on. That made this event actually really playble ;) God bless his Soul. 2) Another one would to have a simple option to put UP on a second button (or another). That would be so helpful for lots of game-slaves which have no such option or especially for racing/driving games. Take Test Drive or stunt car race for example. Its so annoying to always have to press UP on the controller/joypad to accelerate; with such an option this would be a thing of the Past. (well, i even modified my SEGA MEGADRIVE Joypad so that the A Button is UP) :) 3) A feature to swap Joypad ports. There are still a few (not many) games that use the Mouseport as the default joytick port and vice versa. Take Fifa Soccer for example. Super annoying. (i use a splitter in the Mouseport so i have 2 megarive pads and a mouse plugged in, so thats not an issue for me personal, but for most users it is) A Simple "Swap Joystick ports" feature would fix that. Would be amazing if you would consider those. In any case (and in case that this will even be read by someone/wepl) Lots of Respect & Thanks Torti | ||||||||||||
