This install applies to "Crash Garrett" © 1988 ERE Informatique/Infogrames.
Requirements:
-------------
This install requires WHDLoad to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.
To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert.
The installed game requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+0.7MB for preload).
It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey=").
The game requires an installed A500 Kickstart 1.3 image.
The kickstart image must be located in the directory "Devs:Kickstarts" and
must be named "kick34005.A500". The image can be extracted from a A500 with
tools like 'GrabKick' or similar which can be found on aminet.
If the image is of wrong version or altered in any way WHDLoad will quit with
an appropriate message.
Additionally the file "kick34005.A500.RTB" must be installed in the same
directory as the kickstart image. It can be found in the archive
"util/boot/skick346.lha" on aminet.
Features:
---------
- Full load from HD
- CPU dependent timing loops fixed (x7)
- DMA wait in replayer fixed
- Graphics problems on faster machines fixed
- Wait for key press after intro disabled
- Source code included as usual
- NewIcon (created by me)
- Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10')
This one was requested a while ago by Alkis on EAB and yesterday I
just had a look at patching this game for WHDLoad. It had a few
problems, there were quite a few CPU dependent timing loops (most
probably the original game was coded on Atari ST and then ported to
the Amiga) which made the game unplayable on anything else than a plain
68000 Amiga.
There also were some graphics problems, took me a while to find
the reason but eventually I fixed these problems too.
After the intro the game waited for a key press, I have no idea
why and I have disabled it in this patch, the game starts immediately
after the intro without waiting for any key.
Load/Save is of course supported, if you want to save your game type
"disk", if you want to load a saved game either answer the question
at the beginning with "y" or type "game".
Enjoy the game from HD now.
